    They aren't wrong. :yep

(though Jones is a heavy-handed welterweight and doesn't cut any corners on his punches)

Good on Kid Carson. Picking up his third best career W this late in the game, after having officially retired from gloved/officially sanctioned in-a-ring boxing last year and then undergoing that embarrassment of missing weight by 10lbs in what ought to have been his BKB versus Said El Harrak.

Not his fault Rose got overconfident early and was "dry" enough to be unraveled by the first spiteful punch Jones threw.

Not his fault Ian-John Lewis didn't like Rose's body language (and it wasn't that bad a stoppage, honestly)

He came in like a pro and did what needed doing.

They just showed a full replay of all 2.5 rounds of the PF: Middleweights III Final.

I agree with the consensus scoring, 1st to Cello Renda on work rate, 2nd to Doran on crisper punching opening up some cuts, and then of course the scoring tie rendered moot with the big kibosh.

Punch that stunned Rose was on the temple, he seemed clear headed but unable to control his legs.

If I'm remembering correctly Andrade was mostly smashing him in the middle of the face with straights.

How was this Brian Rose cat the favorite? Jones supposedly (I've never watched either fight) outboxed Kell Brook. Rose didn't even get close to beating Andrade.

Brian "The Baby Lion" Rose has a better sound to it.

Rose - and his career trajectory - remind me a bit of Martin Gethin.

Both spent a few years out the gate padding up their record on local grounds (Lancashire & West Midlands respectively, though Gethin's comp was slightly higher qualit.y) and picked up a minor bauble (BBBofC area titles at 140lb and 135lb respectively, though Gethin also picked up a vacant English belt) before losing in kayo upsets to journeymen (Maxwell and Lawton respectively, though Lawton's obviously better...offset by Gethin losing another two in a row, including a 4-rounder to a 9-23 fighter) and then rebuilding with some lengthy winning streaks of about 4 years highlighted by picking up British titles and beating a few decent names (Welsh/Arron/Carslaw/Harris/Webb/Alcine/Maciel controversially and Johanneson respectively) leading a few to overrate their chances at European or even world level and seemingly forget about their awful punch resistance - an oversight remedied in short order by Ammeth Diaz and Demetrius Andrade respectively in steps-too-far...soon afterward followed by even more humiliating stoppage losses (courtesy of light-punching Flanagan and welterweight Jones respectively).

Both average in about every department (pop, speed, athleticism, ring IQ - all but chin, where they're both sub-par), both able to box a bit and yet easily goaded into melees for which neither of them have the wherewithal.

Maciel got a bit too excited when he saw a chance, he punched himself out multiple times actually

If he was a bit more patient he could have got a definitive win.

Deffo. I still feel he earned the decision even having gone about some things stupidly.

I was gutted for him not getting the shot with Andrade. He wouldn't have been embarrassed the way Rose was, I don't suspect. (and his pressure would have given Boo-Boo a much needed test answering some long-standing questions about him...remember that even Dmitry Pirog up at MW, though he did outbox Maciel, had a hard time of it...and I don't think Andrade is half as good as Pirog...)

Both have kind of had sort of "poor man's Kevin Mitchell" type careers. :think
