from bokser.org: I want to fight Golovkin. He's never fought someone like me, someone who comes forward the whole fight. It would be a real war. I know Giennadij is fighting in March, I'm planning to fight in April. Then I'm going to try to get a fight on ESPN. I'm hoping for an HBO September date with Golovkin well, Vera did surprise a lot of people by stopping Dzinziruk, but I don't think he would last the distance if he went toe to toe with GG
Tough kid who picked up a decent win and wants a payday. Good for him for going after it. He'll get blasted out and possibly hurt if it happens. However I suspect that after rosado and ishida, GGG will have bigger fish to fry
Likely hood is Vera leaves on his back. That said, there's alot to be said for a kid who plants his feet and says here I am. Never sleep on those fighters.
If GGG is still struggling to get one of the top guys, then I could see this happening. Vera is always worth watching and very brave but it's hard to see this ending well. Marching forward against someone like Golovkin? Seems like a quick way to get knocked out. I'm hoping that GGG at least manages to get Geale in the ring after Ishida though.
Martinez and Chavez Jr are more than likely fighting in Sept. Quillin is protected. If Geale decides to fight Soliman for an Aussie showdown, why not Vera vs GGG then? Atleast he will continue to look good and with time the big fights will come.
Gennady will be sponsored by the National Welfare Fund "Samruk-Kazyna", which controls $78 billion in assets. It means that money won't be a problem for GGG anymore if he wants Geale or Martinez.
The excuse most have for ignoring Golovkin is that "it doesn't make sense/there's no money in it" etc. If he does get in a position where he can offer the top guys a big payday, I wonder if that will remove all the obstacles or they'll just find another excuse.
Not like GGG been fighting fighters with a better resume or wins than Brian Vera. I also don't understand why people are being disrespectful towards Brian Vera for calling out GGG. He's the only one doing it so far, give him props for that. Sure he has nothing to lose, but if GGG is so good, then this could just be a stay busy fight then. If he is so good he should make easy work of this guy and be the first (?) to stop him
Vera has pulled plenty of upsets out and rises to the occasion in big fights id love to see him try, at least we know he will give it his all and leave nothing in the ring GGG is good and Vera will bring it out
Id leave the Golovkin train if he fought Vera, the Rosado fight was a keep busy fight, the Ishida fight is too keep him busy until the summer. He must land a big name opponent in the summer or just after otherwise a lot of people wont be able to take him seriously anymore.
