Brian Viloria vs. Juan Francisco Estrada & Roman Martinez vs. Diego Magdaleno RBR

Roman Martinez is like some damn Faustian legend.

He lost his title in a war against Burns, and then sold his soul to the devil and hasn't lost a decision since. :thedevil1

 

OMG dude, really bad.

Magdaleno got dropped and did clearly lose maybe 2-3 other rounds besides the 10-8, but largely countered the heck out of Rocky.

Worse than the Martinez vs. Beltran gift, but not quite as bad as Martinez vs. MiniBurgos robbery (as very few are :-()

 

Brian Viloria vs. Juan Francisco Estrada, 12 rounds @ flyweight

 

One judge is from New Zealand. The other two are American.

 

Round 1

Viloria is smoothly moving left and jabbing, rocking his shoulders to either side as Estrada looks to catch his melon with a carefully timed jab. Viloria doesn't give him a chance. Estrada instead tries hooking the body. Don't hook with a hooker! Big left rip to the cheekbone by Viloria, shell-shocking Estrada. Quick 1-2 by Viloria. Estrada is hanging back and waiting to ambush Viloria with a straight and firm right hand but the edge in speed is too much and Estrada can't get off in time even when Viloria darts in to land.

Round 2

Viloria is moving left, with plenty of room left between them. Estrada dives in with accurate body shots, but Viloria discourages him with a sweeping counter uppercut. Estrada whips in a quick left hook from mid-range. Estrada punches well moving laterally. Viloria stands his ground and fortifies the position with a 1-2 up and down as Estrada roams in search of an opening. Estrada waves his fists out in front of his face while staying outside. They watch each other for a time, until Viloria gets bored and starts probing with his jab, testing the waters coming forward. Jab exchanges, both timing each other and countering back and forth. Very tactical, and even. Lead left hook upstairs and a straight right speared into the body by Estrada, but Viloria lands a counter left hook over his temple. Triple jab by Estrada after a grazing overhand right. Nice stiff jab by Viloria, and he turns over a hook off it before Estrada can assemble his guard.

This is a BEAUTIFUL fight.

It makes Martinez vs. Magdaleno look positively hideous in comparison.
