Seran is down quick from a suddenly converted left hook off a jab! He shakes it off and comes at Melindo with jabs and body shots. Melindo leads with line drive right hands up the big ramo of Seran's nose and sidesteps with his jab before picking his own spots to the body from outside. Double jab by Melindo. Seran drops a high right hand to the left cheek and backs Melindo up

Round 2

Melindo is circling and jabbing. Seran claps in with hooks. Melindo keeps the jab on him, maintaining a carefully measured distance. BIG right cross, out of nowhere, dropping Seran. Again Seran is more shaken than senseless. They trade straights and hooks as Seran continues to move forward, wrinkling his nose as it may possibly be filling with blood. Seran keeps sliding back and countering in time with him.

Round 3

Melindo keeps timing Seran's combos, be they looping or straight, head or body (and he is mixing them up, to his credit) by simply backing up with his guard raised and waiting his turn with quick counter left upper-hooks and jabs. Melindo has developed a small cut on the bridge of his nose. Seran refuses to back down, and is touching Melindo a bit when he closes in. Big right hands traded, each man leaning away to both load up and roll with the opponent's shot.

Round 4

Melindo moves away and floats his jab. Seran marches to him, guileless. Melindo is waiting for a big counter, not throwing much in the way of power. THERE IT IS. Another of those massive left hooks bang on the side of the face that Seran doesn't see coming past his own midway shot obscuring his vision. Seran doesn't get up this time.

MM isn't a monstrous striker, but has very nice timing and form.

His opponent has struggled at Japanese domestic level, failing to even obtain the nation's belt at super bantam - but he is always game and has never been stopped. :bbb

I like this matchmaking. Wilfredo Jr. might have to work for it, but at the same time it's one he really ought to come through...a way to keep rebuilding his confidence beating someone whose record while not eye-catching isn't by any means bad.

Major bragging rights if he pulls off a KO.

A loss, however - major setback. He better not be approaching this with a "piece of ****" mentality...

 

Yep. I got the impression that while Tommy seran is a bit rough around the edges he isn't a terrible fighter - Melindo just made him look bad denying him any say whatsoever in the range they fought at.
