Has any of you posters ever heard or gone to check out this gym. Jose Rosario is WW Alex Perez's manager. He looks so familiar. There was a gym in Newark called Hall of Fame gym run by two guys named Valentin and Rosario. They were both outstanding amatuer standouts. I trained there for a while and I think this Jose Rosario could be one of my old trainers. Couqi Gym was another gym in Newark if anyone has ever gone there. I met the Toledo brothers there and commented back in the day that we needed more PR champs. Frank Toledo ended up becomeing champion. Wendy LaMotta also trains in the Couqi unless she retired. Good gyms if any of you posters live nearby and want to check them out.
Holy **** bro...HALL OF FAME GYM!!! I also trained there for a while...yes he's the same guy. Hall of fame was the real deal...in the church basement..right? Anyway I'm from Newark too and The Coqui Gym is starting to make a name for itself. BTW..Jose and Valentin were pretty good amatuers back in the day.
We may know each other. Yes, in the church basement. ****, Jose looks like Eric Morales. He is one of the coolest dudes and trainer I know. I helped Louis Negron with starting the Couqi Gym in 1992. Negron trained me also. It was late for me to get into a top fighter back then due to getting married and losing my job. He asked me to stay and help train, but I moved to Boston. There, I did not get into the amatuer, but got into some big sparring wars that I still crave today. I am thinking about getting into it again, but kickboxing and maybe that MMA stuff. I need to get my ass kicked so I can get this bug out of me. I got good in Boston and I only regret that I wish I would have been as good in the beginning. I was told I had so much potential. Speed and power in both hands. I only had one amatuer fight and it was against a 5-0 fighter. I dropped him and could not finish him. I got tired and outpointed. Dude came to me like I was his role model due to not ever been dropped. I actually grazed him so if I would have got him flush, this would be a different story. Kirks Center in Elizebeth, NJ is where I started. Dejesus use to train me also. I hope he is still alive and well due to being up there in age back then. Funny dude. I got stories.
