I'll make a deal, keep bridgerweight but bring back one title per division. I've said it before, I don't see why the alphabet boys in their quest for greed don't just make a division for every pound from 105 to 275 lbs. Really milk this thing
What they actually need to do is fill the gap between 175 and 200. That's the glaring fault. The big differences at HW I don't really care about since a lot of those heavies are chancers who could lose fat and fight at cruiser. If they did that the differences would mostly go away. If these small HWs want to risk it up there then that's their choice. The big differences make it interesting anyway, since you don't get such freakish size differences in other divisions. So HW becomes a bit of a wildcard division and everything else is in decent order. Basically they should just get rid or two or three (or more) of the lowest divisions and put in a 185-188lb division.
To piggyback your point, 185-190 would be explosive! Going down to just 1 or 2 belts would help immensely.
I mean who is even the Bridgerweight Champeen of the world? Seems like the idea of a BW division tanked before it even started.
Unless the division can attract some serious money - and why would it at present? - Top CWs will skip it for the HW division where they can earn way better purses for getting hit very hard by very big men (as opposed to being hit very hard by slightly smaller men for less cash) and only failed HWs will drop down to compete there. It's destined to be a division of mediocrity...
You're not wrong. If the division sticks around like other divisions, it can boost a fighter's legacy whose chasing HW greatness.
