Bad move for Briedis, he won’t make a mark in the heavyweight division
Should just aim to go on a dominant run at cruiserweight

Depends from matchmaking. I don't think that he dreams about HW title belts at all or maybe even next CW belt.
    He is old.
He does have some pros that might work well for him HW or Bridger.
Chisora from Usyk fight I think didn't had lasted vs old Briedis version from 2020 September till cards.
Why? Such boxer is tailor made for Briedis or maybe Dorticos and I think with him he had easier time than if he had Makabu in ther ring i September 2020 instead of Chisora.
Now he is older than in fight vs Dorticos, clock had ticked a lot. More than 5 months in this age is a lot.
Doesn't looks that he now does have next fight scheduled. All these talks since december that Okolie or Makabu might fight with him appeared with 0 scheduled fight as far as today's situation.
Ofc Eddie might attempt to get max possible short notice for Briedis and clauses, clauses and clauses.
Only thing eddie most likely can't accept is $, for him most likely EE boxer must be cheap. '

It's very hard to earn a living as a CW in the USA. You must either get lucky with a voluntary defense (as the unworthy BJ Flores was or the much-more-worthy Michael Hunter was) or you need a WBSS-style tournament. And, as is correct, you need solid accomplishment to enter the WBSS.

It is much easier for a Top-20 CW to earn a living as a Top-200 HW in the USA;)

It is a shame that Sauerland's operation collapsed. It has been acquired, so maybe the WBSS can resume in some form.

Briedis vs. Gassiev would be a decent fight at HW

If good paycheck he most likely might agree.
If he had agreed to fight with Huck who was tickets seller in Germany and in Huck's promotion, then I do not see that he might not agree for good paycheck.

The problem with Eddie is that most likely he will wish to insist on fight vs Okolie in U.K and insert one sided rematch clause while Briedis most likely will demand 2 sided rematch clause because he currently does have The Ring and IBF belts.

Also had been hired something that Okolie wish 36 h before fight weight ins, while Briedis: 24 hours.
Of course for eddie all these boxers not from U.K are like cheap kids for his clauses and he maybe does not know that Briedis isn't Glowacki or this polish journeyman.
EE boxers for eddie always were only to place them on clauses and in away corner in his backyard.

I suspect that if Briedis really wish legacy not paycheck, he might " book " fight vs Makabu and pay him his purse.
He definitely could afford to do this financially.

Hugfest vs Briedis might not increase Okolie chances to be ppv star if fight will be boring.
There also risk that maybe Briedis is not enough old.
Ruiz already had appeared not enough fat in first fight, Povektin not enough old in first fight so Eddie most likely learn from his mistakes.

Usyk HW fight. I think he might agree to fight vs Usyk HW. Without clauses.

Interested how much money might generate Gassiev?
He had beated boxers with pro records 9-0-0 and 15-0-0, then had fought old Wlodarczyk and old Lebedev. Good names on resume.
He also had WBA Super and IBF World titles in CW division. Defeated Dorticos, who in WBSS2 still managed to get IBF World title via stoppage vs undefeated Tabiti. Okey, Usyk defeated him but I think nothing wrong, Gassiev even turned into more interesting boxer than if he did not had this fight.

    Depends from matchmaking.
He does have more experience at HW than Usyk and even had attempted to make career at HW. Looks that he then wasn't enough well known and could not generate enough money to get enough highly ranked opponents at HW.
Then he trimmed back down to CW, probably cos easier to generate enough $ to get enough highly ranked opponents at CW to get a title shot at CW.
He even had been ranked at HW not low but wasn't mandatory for anyone and low reward ($) / high risk prime Briedis wasn't interesting enough to gave him good fights at HW.

Now he is old, most likely might make some good fights and if he feels better with weight in weight 213-214 lbs, then why not.
Not likely he will yell to gave him HW title shot after some first fights at HW, he isn't like a lot of western boxers.
