Briggs is a strong guy but this was a case of a brave corner, who should have thrown in the towel. I appreciate the referee recognizing the significance of the the fight but this is one he should have stopped

I haven't really heard anything yet about him being in critical condition from a legitimate source. He did check in at the hospital due to facial injuries.

He was in intensive care due to broken bones in his eye area. He is not in a life threatening condition or seriously injured as far as I know.

Yeah, all i'm hearing is that he's having surgery to repair a cheek bone?

What's the source on intensive care? And critical condition?

I hope so. He took a hiding, that's all, I hope.

This is what happens when bad matches are made though. Usually you only have to worry about it down the card a bit!!

Heavyweight title challenger Shannon Briggs is reportedly in critical condition in the intensive care unit at the University Hospital Eppendorf in Hamburg, Germany. Briggs suffered fractures below both eyes as well as a concussion, after taking dozens of hard shots from WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko on Saturday night, but is responsive according to RTL. He also suffered a pulled tendon and torn muscle in his right arm.

Briggs was rushed to the hospital after the fight as doctors feared a possible cerebral hemorrhage after observing symptoms associated with neurological disturbances and drowsiness.

Referee Ian John-Lewis, who has received criticism for not stopping the fight, said he was within “one or two shots” of stopping it. “It was a heavyweight world championship,” he said. “These are tough guys and as long as a man fights back, you have to give him a chance.”

It says on fight news that Briggs is in critical condition in intensive care due to fractures around both eyes and concussion. Apparently he has also suffered pull tendons and torn muscle in his right arm. He is apparently responsive but was rushed to hospital because they feared a cerebral hemorrhage as he was showing signs of neurological disturbance and drowsiness.

Hope he makes a full recovery he really did take a savage a beating.

His face is litterally broken. That is some serious gloating rights for Vitali to use against Briggs if Briggs starts mouthing off like he did before the fight.

The humor in this situation eludes me.

It's called selling a fight. If reports are correct, Briggs is in a pretty serious condition, it's not the most humerous situation in the world.

Bummy, I agree 100%. I saw the last three rounds on You Tube this morning and it appaled me that the fight wasn't stopped at the end of the 10th. This is the kind of ****, thanks to that sadistic referee..that could spell the end for both Briggs and boxing. I sure hope he pulls through and QUITS.

I had heard that he wasn't in a very bad state, despite him being in the ICU. If he is in a serious condition then no, it is not funny.
