I pray that Briggs is o.k. and makes a full recovery.

That fight should have been stopped either by the ref, ringside doctor, or Briggs corner. They all should be hanging their heads at their stupidity.

I said it during the RBR thread and right after in threads in here.
The fight should have been stopped much much earlier.
Briggs was'nt putting up a fight. The only thing he was doing was trying to roll with the shots, but he was still catching plenty of hard shots flush in the process.

There is s problem in boxing that the cornerman and refs are just not stopping one sided beatdowns that should not be allowed to see the final rounds.

Let us the fans not wash our hands of all of this.
The fans are the first to question a fighters manhood when through a beating, he himself determines he's had enough.:-(
This very reason is why alot of fighters wont take it upon themselves to put a halt to the fight.

Shame on Shannon Briggs corner for allowing him to get up round after round to go out and take what everyone who was seeing this mismatch knew was coming, a shellaking.:-(

No way. It was obvious the fight should have been stopped. The ref sucked and should not work again.

I also thinks the ref or Briggs corner should have stopped the fight sooner!

Hope Briggs is okey. He got balls of solid rock!

Okay from what I´ve read on this thread so far it does not sound good for Briggs. SAomeone does not get admitted to intensive care unit unless they have are in imminent danger, i.e. can´t breath, suffer from an epileptic crisis, or in this case it sounds Briggs became sleepy, therefore they´re suspecting an epidural hematoma, which is bleeding between the meninges and the skull and can compress the brain. The treatment for that is surgery. The classic presentation of epidural hematoma is neurological changes (i..e sleepiness) a couple of hours after trauma to the skull, because there´s bleeding from the middle meningeal artery, which slowly accumulates and eventually causes pressure in the skull to rise, therefore compressing the brain.
I hope Briggs is going to be OK.
It was hard to watch the fight the referee was incompetent and had no business being in the ring.

If I could make threads I'd make a GET WELL, BRIGGS thread.

I felt really bad for him from the 6th round on. It was brutal.

    GET WELL, BRIGGS.

i read he fractured his orbital bone, broke his nose and tore his bicept. regardless, this fight had no business going past 9. the blame should go squarely on briggs's corner. the ref would be highly criticized for stopping a title fight. briggs's corner seemed oblivious to the beating he was taking.

Tsss, and the ****ing commentator was always saying that John Lewis was taking a close look at Briggs every time he was on shaky legs.. Apperently he didn't look close enough. Damn that Briggs took unnecessary punishment.

If his corner or the ref thought he could pull a Sergei Liakhovich KO12 2:58, then they would be sorry if Briggs is permanently destroyed!!
