to many people, myself included paul was somewhat of a hero and an inspiring person. i have followed his career since MT days in early 90's. he used to let anyone spar him and was somebody a lot looked up to. to see someone you hold on such a pedestal do what he did the other night is going to evoke a big reaction. i saw one of my heros dive the other night. if you choose to believe that grazing jab ko'd him go right ahead buddy. like one of the neurosurgens was quoted as saying "you dont need to be a neurosurgen to diagnose what happened in the ring the other night".. or words to that effect. we all know what we saw and no amount of smoke and mirrors can hide the facts...

This is probably old news, but like most others I've spent some of the break on holidays and away from the perils of ESB: Paul (Hurricane) Briggs - from 8 Count News dot com - 12th Jan 2011 Briggs, the former light heavyweight contender and native of Australia who was once ensconced in glory following his brawl with then-WBC light heavyweight champion Tomasz Adamek back in 2006, traded that glory for infamy following a suspect first round knockout loss to IBO cruiserweight champion Danny Green back on July 21, 2010 in his first bout in three years. In the fall-out from the Green fight, media reports indicated that Briggs might have been neurologically unfit to compete in the first instance and, more sinisterly, may have gone in the tank for the benefit of Lebanese underworld figures who bet heavily on a first round knockout win for Green. After an investigation, This content is protected , where the bout took place, after it was found that he participated in a sham contest. If Briggs tried to apply for license to box in New York, he would face several obstacles. In addition to lingering, if unsubstantiated, claims that he may have consorted or associated with gamblers or bookmakers involved with the Lebanese-Australian underworld, NYSAC could also decide, in its discretion, to recognize the cancellation of his registration in Western Australia and decline to issue him a license for that reason as well. Additionally, NYSAC could find him medically unfit if medical testing confirmed the reports of Briggs neurological impairment going into the Green fight.
no he didnt.it appears that way to the naked eye but if you slow it down it was a legitimate blow. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWqwDZRtLKk[/ame]
It's a debate we've already been over adnausiam. The bottom line is Briggs should NEVER have been allowed to get in the ring again - let alone with someone like Green who could've ended more than just his career.
Blow?! I've had head massages that have been more impactful. Theres heaps of punches out there that appear to be deceiving to the observer, but never really to the guy who threw the punch. They know when they've hit someone sweet. When Briggs fell, Green was just as stunned as we were. Green's fists could have been card houses that fight and they still wouldn't have collapsed.
i always repected paul briggs, what he's come, he was a tough as nails fighter who was a world champion kickboxer 54W-5L 39ko's world champ at 19, boxing record 29W-4L 18ko , at the ened of the day he did it for the money, he knew he had no chance , he didnt give a **** about what it might the outcome might be, paul briggs will always be won of my fav aussie fighters but when he went down ... but when i seen him walk out i knew he was gone and when he hit the canvas that jab ... it pissed me off
Billy hussien is barred training fighters in WA? he got of lightly ! ... Doesnt look like Garth Woods will be fighting in perth anytime soon
