    --Shannon Briggs

I can't stand hearing this comment. And over the years I've heard it regularly.
    Wlad refused/ducked/hid from Briggs.

In April 2002 Shannon Briggs fought a taller and leaner (as opposed to alot of that extra asthma inducing/cardio draining muscle that Briggs carried) Jameel McCline.
Jameel earned this fight by beating two other big boys (Grant and Goofi Whitacker). Briggs and McCline were to face for the right to challenge Wlad for his WBO (or WBA??).
    McCline won.

Keeping with the promise Wlad fought McCline in December of that year and soundly beat his very timid opponent.
McCline wrote the timidness off to nerves and that Wlad caught him on a bad day. Really? Nerves? He was fighting meaningful fights in front of big crowds with Briggs, Goofi & Grant. But the nerves finally caught up with him against Wlad?
I don't buy it. What caught up with McCline was Wlad's punches. Very early in the fight, when they first started landing McCline looked scared to get hit by Wlad. That's what lead to the timidness.

Wlad didn't duck Briggs for smaller weaker opponents. He fought the bigger man who beat Briggs.... who even dropped Briggs and hit him with such force that when Briggs hit the mat he rolled up on his shoulder blades.

Briggs is just talking ****, so that after Vitali knocks his ass out he can hope to pull Wladimir into a fight with him.

Is that why Wlad fought Peter not once but twice? Because he's avoiding the terribly dangerous and big punchers?

Briggs showed what a dangerous puncher he is against Iggy. How many punches did he throw per round? 3? How many did he land?

Briggs also had ANOTHER chance when he lost to Ibragimov. Ibragimov went on to face Wladimir, and if Briggs would have won, it would have been him instead.

Funny how Wlad fights guys that have beaten Briggs but not actually fighting Briggs...
Must be some type of cruel Ukrainian practical joke.

Briggs should talk. He fights the worst opponents to get himself title shots. It's a sin he is continuously allowed to fight bumbs as a path to titles when other fighters actually have to earn them.

Briggs is having trouble coming to terms with the fact that he had a mediocre career at best and this is his last shot at redemption. A decade ago he was a very talented, very promising fighter. But had it not been for a lucky late punch he'd wouldn't even be able to call himself an ex-title holder.

briggs is the ****, absolutely ****.

he had one chance at making a big fight with k2 when he was champ, but he then went on to get schooled by ibragimov.

had briggs fought wlad then, at the time it might well have been a toss up. but he didnt fght him, and he lost his next fght.
