Brigg's strategy against Vitali should be pretty clear

Briggs should feel Vitali out for the first few seconds. Immediately after, he should go into desperation mode and start throwing bombs and try to catch Vitali off-guard. Vitali will try to be slick and weather the storm, fighting with his hands done like he does but this is Briggs's only chance. He'll be fighting at full-power and have all his power behind his punches. If he manages to keep it up for a round, he might even win it.

He'll definitely be winded after that so he should stop and rest for the rest of the fight. Throw nothing at all and just let Vitali win the fight going away. Briggs could just circle around the ring. No punches at all. He can draw circles with his arms like he always does so the ref won't threaten to stop the fight. If he threatens to take points away, who gives a ****? Briggs isn't winning on points anyway. Maybe throw in a headbutt or low-blow if he gets the chance.

Toward the end of the fight, Briggs will have spent nearly 11 rounds just resting. In the last two minutes of the 12th round, with Vitali somewhat tired from winning the last 10 rounds, Briggs can go all-out one last time trying to put him out the same way he did Liakhovich.

This is his only chance. Just a full all-out blitz. There's no other way he'll win.

The highlighted I believe is his best chance at pulling off the victory. He needs to charge Vitali and make him uncomfortable.

Although adopting your plan of resting for the next 10 rounds would be very interesting.

I don't think Briggs should be fighting to win. He should be fighting to survive and on occasions offer up some offense. If he can do this it will lead to further pay days and fights with people like Arreola, Tua, Povetkin etc. If he opens up and gets starched in the first round then all credibility he had left is down the toilet

That is an incredibly stupid strategy. If he does this, best case scenario he will win 2 rounds and lose 10. He is not knocking Vitali out, and by time the first round blitz is over he will be so tired he wont be able to run around the damn ring, then will just get pounded away until he gets KO'd or ref stops it. Good thing you arent Briggs cornerman!

Have we all forgotten how easily Vitali cuts? He was cut against Kevin Johnson, and Johnson only grazed him a few times the whole fight. Briggs has the size to be able to land some shots, which could prove to be effective even if they are partially blocked. Briggs can only win if he cuts Vitali above the eye and the fight gets stopped.

Briggs needs to apply pressure effectively and try and land some big shots early. I see Briggs being able to keep the pace going to atleast 4-5 rounds then reverting to more a counter punching style where he will have to catch Vitali with a monster shot to be able to finish the fight. I know for sure Briggs will win the first few rounds which isn`t too relavant as not many people are seeing this fight go to the distance. BRIGGS KO 3

His strategy should be to get injured before the fight.

Vitali has terrible timing, so for me, he needs to make a smaller target, move his head so Vitali can't establish his jab and keep jabbing to the body. Vitali will soon be in the habit of blocking the jab with his hands down and boom, come upstairs with the right hand and follow in with the left hook.

Pity he doesn't have Richardson in his corner to help him implement this strategy, because it's exactly the same strategy [minus the left hook] that he had Mosley using the Mayweather fight, and he nearly took Floyd out early with it.

He was rocked big time against Sanders by one counter left hand and literally ran away to avoid taking another shot and then fell to the canvas.

Unfortunately for Briggs, he can't counter punch like Sanders. So he's going to have to rely on catching Vitali a bit by surprise because he's going to be firing constantly on the front-foot.

Hence he needs to switch it up body to head and Vitali would be exposed for a shot. Unfortunately, the chances of him getting into that position are slim because for all his faults, Vitali is great at controlling the range and he's going to be throwing a helluva lot of punches himself that Briggs will have to contend with.

The Klitschko's are very intelligent people. There is a reason why they are so successful. People in the West have a notion that Eastern people are dumb, but many people from former Soviet bloc countries are very very intelligent and have a completely different mindset from other people. It borders on arrogance coupled with complete self-belief.

Did you see the way that Vitali looked at Briggs with utter disdain and contempt almost as if to say "I'm so much better than you, I'm going to punish you so badly"

Declined or not, the Klitschko brothers are still a step above everyone else. It is the psychology - especially of Vitali - that many people fail to analyse as to exactly why he is so successful.
