The only strategy Briggs should adopt, is to make sure his corner men have plenty of inhalers brought in to use between rounds....
It's hard to come up with a good strategy for Briggs knowing that he has such a low workrate. Just going out and head hunting is a bad strategy because Vitali is slipperier than you'd think. He's got a good reflex and combined with his height, he gets away from head shots. Briggs should throw some body shots. Try and bust up Vitali's ribs with some hard shots. Maybe that will slow down Vitali enough to deliver some big head shots. Also remember to get some work done in the clinches. Briggs is strong and he can do some damage in the clinches. Maybe even some nice looping head shots, like the one he caught Mercer with.
Vitali Klitschko has an Iron Chin. Briggs knows this. His ONLY chance is to come out throwing bombs in the first 2 rounds and get a stoppage or cut Vitali real bad and get a cuts stoppage. I wonder if Lennox Lewis phoned Briggs and gave him the sage advise he did to Sanders and Danny Williams which was "try and cut him" :roflatsch I think Briggs is coming to fight and for the time it lasts I expect a good exciting scrap. Briggs is a 2 round fighter and he can't stand flatfooted in front of Vitali and throw 15 punches a round like he did against Liahkohvich or he will get murdered.
Exactly. Briggs can't throw more than 10 punches a round, if he wants to stand a chance. He increases his chances of landing a bomb if he goes all-out right at the beginning.
Briggs, need to throw Bombs early and often in the first few rounds. I don;t think V. Kli can Ko Briggs he doesn't have that type of power so Briggs need to BUM RUSH him the first few rounds. If Briggs can't Ko V. Klit in the first few rounds then he needs to pace himself for a few rounds and throw Bombs again/
He does. Watch the early rounds of the Gomez fight. He didn't time him with anything for rounds on end. Easy to look like you have timing against a can like Arreola who doesn't move his head.
Agreed. It's no coincidence that Vitali looked as good as ever against Arreola, who stood in front of him all night, compared to Johnson who was Dirrell'ing his way to the final bell.
Briggs best chance is to pace himself and try to time Vitali with a couple of big shots per round. If Briggs were to land a staggering bomb, then go all out and try to finish Vitali. If he goes all out right away winging shots, he's just going to miss and gas himself out.
briggs has had 1 brawl his whole life....Lewis.... hes full of crap and hasnt done anything in 10 years..... either kos bums who fall from 1 punch or he loses decisions to those who wont collapse from his mere appearance . should change your name to KO BUMS BY BRIGGS
At least Briggs can take comfort from the fact that Vitali is 0-1 against fighters with ridiculous dreadlocks.
no - it will be what ever vitali wants it to be - i think vitali will control the fight from the get go. briggs is there for the pay day and he does not deserve it at all. briggs is the worst challanger for a hw title i have seen in a while, and we are talking about a time when harrison, peter, chinsora etc are getting a shot. only tua or tarver would be worse and watch them both get a shot some day. what a joke the divison has become.
