Ellis is cut from a diffrent cloth. Not trying to take anything away from Paul but there is not a chance in hell that Lester would ever take a dive, he would as you mention rather go out on his sheild as a true warrior does. It was a bigger missmatch than the Briggs fight i would have to agree but Fighters make fights, not their records. Briggs clearly sold his soul to the highest bidder and dived on his sheild for money the 1st chance he got.
they're both pathetic.but at least Mundine didnt hype Ellis up as if he was going to be a tough opponent and Mundine was a novice with less than 10 pro fights and it wasnt for a ''world championship''.
It's an analogy where there are two dog-ugly sisters and it's up to you to choose which one you want to go out with - the answer is of course neither. Both Green v Briggs and Mundine v Ellis were dog-ugly farces - it might be arguable that one or the other was fractionally uglier - but what difference does it make?
Mundine paid Ellis' airfare to the Gold Coast and arranged for him to jump in the ring after his fight to challenge him. We saw how cringeworthy that can be with the recent debacle where Mundine told Waters he was going to push him. Of course, after the fact, Mundine tried to claim he fought Ellis because he wanted to help out his childhood hero
