Briggs vs. Golota: who wins?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Tunney5, Apr 7, 2008.

  1. Golota is 40 years old now so it's hard to except too much outta him:-( but i think he stiill beats Briggs who has Asthma and has a pitiful workrate, Golota at 50 would still probaly throw more punches than Briggs..
I think Andy stopps Briggs when Shaanon collapses from exhaustion somewhere around the 7 th round..

I am kidding. I have no idea who i think will win. Too close to call.

I was amazed that Golota's early coverup defense worked against Mollo, though. He seemed very stiff and just held his elbows down at his side, while Mollo went to the body.......I think Briggs would be able to penetrate that. Briggs would quickly go to the head, and Golota would have a time keeping Briggs from landing, somewhereBut if Golota did manage to withstand his early swarm, I think Golota would coast to a win. Or, I would not be suprised to see Golota pummel the exhuasted Briggs, either. Golota is very heavy handed, and certianly has power that can drop Briggs, in my opinion.

I can't believe people are picking Briggs to win this. He can't fight after 5 seconds of throwing punches.

    Golota by decision.

werry close call. Golota will take it if, he can survive storm in early rounds and not get hit by Briggs fast counter shots in later rounds. If I would have to guess I would take Briggs by first round KO.

People are overrating Briggs' power. Don't get me wrong.. he's powerful, but Golota's dealt with more skilled fighters that were just as powerful.

Golota jabs his head off to a UD.

    That could hapen.

    But

remember how Briggs knocked out Lyachovick. Same Lyachovick who taked everything what one of the best punchers in heavyweight Brewster throwed at him and keep fighting. And Briggs have proven hes punching power in countless other matches too.

I hardly see Golota get KO'ed by Briggs. He seems soo tough and experienced now. His chin seems to be ok and he just wouldn't quit even if he got stunned as with McBride and Mollo.

I see Andrew putting constant pressure on Shannon and with his good stamina and high workrate winning UD or stopping him late.

Briggs needs to retire and do boxing commentary because I think his mouth is his biggest assest at this point. I won't be surprized if he doesn't lose to Mollo! Mollo is a tough guy and Briggs has no interest in fighting eally beyond 3 rounds, its all about if Mollo can weather the early Briggs storm.

Golota is the kind of fighter that I think would put Briggs into retirement. Golota is fighting smarter than ever and once Briggs was unable to stop him in a round or two, then Briggs would start to tire and start doubting himself. Golota would then start unleashing his trademark combination punching and jab. Golota would cruise and probably stop Shannon.
