    Of course Shannon's going to want that type of money for a title shot. This shouldn't be surprising, and no one should blame him, either. I'm sure if they brought that kind of money to the table, they probably could have coaxed Adamek into the ring for a similar amount.

    What was he offered? Quarter mil? How do you know it isn't merely a negotiation tactic to split the difference and try and secure 7 figures?

    Briggs is still a former 2x champion with some name value, and Wilder's people inexplicably secured a date without an opponent or apparently even a solid back-up plan.

    Asking for $2 million doesn't seem unreasonable to me. Especially since Wilder called him out, and having no opponent still, Briggs is in a position with some leverage as far as negotiations would go.

    Briggs is a bigger act and more known in New York where the fight is held.
    On short notice and Briggs is a natural salesman who can draw a crowd. Deontay can't do that yet. He needs Shannon to sell this bull**** quick.:good

    I don't care if Briggs is very well known in nyc. He's an old decline fart that hasn't done **** since I can't remember. Briggs ain't getting 2 million vs any heavyweight fighters. But maybe Wladimir would give Briggs 2 million which it's not a guarantee. Briggs ain't getting 2 million if he fights fury. Briggs should have took the fight for 400,000.00 which that was the offer. Briggs should took it and if he wins, then he'll get better leverage of purse but it's guess his brain was kn vacation.

    Briggs running round with his "Lets go champ" was totally willing to take a beating for a big payday, somebody offers and trys to grab as much as he can from it. Thats all it ever was, he never thought he would beat Klitchko while chasing him round the world. Just wanted the $$$$$$$

    He didn't deserve a shot anyway at ANY belt without earning it (vs a legit opponent).

    Wilder would have received appropriate ridicule for fighting Briggs, but it's clear that Briggs more than likely priced himself after being asked to pass a drug test by Wilder's camp (under more stringent testing protocols in the US).

    The man knows he ain't clean. :lol:
