Thx for the post...good read That was exactly my first thought when I heard what was Brooks strategy. Kell is one brave mofo if he tries that **** with Triple G
Amazingly, this article was put on the site on Thursday night. But you'd think the writer wrote it after the weigh-in, especially after he says this in past tense, 'He should have come in at 154-156, and moved all night (or for as long a possible).'
I think the author has overestimated how much Brook has bulked up. Lets see how much he weighs on fight night.
For a fighter who has campaigned exclusively at 147lbs, he's came in too heavy at 159 1\4lbs (almost the middleweight limit) being that he's the naturally smaller specimen jumping up two weight divisions. No question about it.
From what I've heard he just isn't starving/draining himself down and weakening himself anymore. Maybe he's fully fed and hydrated at 159? Lets see how much he weighs on fight night compared to how much he usually weighs and how much other 147/154/160 guys weigh on fight night.
Brook has been practicing his holding technique, he knows his personal referee will allow him to do anything, like when Kovalev knocked out Cleverly, the referee carried Cleverly back to his corner, so Cleverly got knocked out in the next round.Brook has the judges, referee and boxing commission one his side, he will cheat, but I don't think it will help him that much..................
Eh, true, mostly. But someone bulking up isn't going to give them more power. Unless 159 is Brook's optimum weight, I doubt he gains more power. Everyone has that peak weight. If Brook was struggling and draining, like he claims, to make 147, then maybe he'll fair better at 160 lbs?
Article is gash. Kell works with one of the top sports science institutions in the world. They'll have devised a strategy to bring him in bang on weight and in the peak of fitness. He'll be able to stick, move and carry power.
