I was referring to McClellan as an example of what could happen more often, whilst accepting the injury was within the first ten rounds - perhaps the highest profile incident of it's kind in recent years.

 

I agree, with was stupid to drop the number of rounds down to an even number.

 

im for it! besides, its still up to the referee, doctor, or corner to decide if they want the fighter to go on..atleast we'll know who is more deserving to win...

 

I think that we should keep the twelve round system, but if the fight is declared a draw, then do a 1 round overtime

 

I agree. If it were still fifteen rounds, a guy that is way behind on points going into the 12th can still pull out the victory over the next three rounds.

Anyway, fifteen rounds would really seperate the men from the boys in today's game.

I would definately recommend bringing back the fifteen round distance for championship fights. I mean, if the old timers did it, then todays fighters, with advanced training methods, diet & nutrition, etc, should be able to do the same!

Also, going back to fifteen rounds would be kind of like reminding people of the past, the old skool, great fighters.

 

I'm conflicted on this one. 15 rounders produced definitive results, yet I have no interest in seeing changes reinstated that further threaten the health of fighters.

 

To me, there is nothing wrong with drawn fights, as long as they are genuine, as opposed to robberies.

 

I prefer 12 rounders. Just personal preference from boxing myself, I can't ever imagine doing 15 rounds.

I wouldn't mind, but I'm rather indifferent about the 12 vs. 15 round thing.

I'd rather see same day weigh-ins.

Just finished watching Gomez-Pintor a couple of days back and had the fight dead even at the end of the 12th round, 2 rounds later Gomez KO's Pintor in a great action fight!

We would still be arguing over who really won that fight had it been a 12 rounder!

 

Fans should really shutup about this cause it's never gonna happen. The 12 round distance fits into TV schedules much better and fighters like the fact that the get payed more for less of the work. It's never gonna happen guys so give it a rest. 12 rounds is enough time to get the job done we don't really need anymore than that. Maybe raise it up to 13 rounds if you want to eliminate draws, but there's no need to exhaust yourself up to 15.
