I agree, one belt per class. itl stop guys like calzaghe defending a ***** belt countless times against bums. 15 rounders interest me, but arent particularly essential.
Yeah, the most prestigious of the numerous boxing titles used to be WBC and the Ring belt, and holding those 2 was like proof of being the best of the best and the true world champion. But somehow, it has lost some of it's credibility, prestige and value, nowadays. But it's still the least suckiest title belt to own, today.
I agree with having one champion per weight, rather than the myriad of organisations we currently do.
Indeed. I can live with two belts per division. Decide if you are getting rid of the supers or jr's. Abolish Cruisers and make heavyweight up to like 200, then create a Superheavyweight division (argument for another day). promoters and sanctioning bodies tired of all the watering down and competition from UFC type stuff? Simplify the sweet science. if you will build it, they will come.:good
The individual organisations don't even live like they are the only organisation around any more...at least in the old days each organisation had a sense of structural integrity, even if they were lying cheating trumped up little Napoleons. Still, they are not going away. Ever. Not unless boxing gets so sick there is just no money to be made from it. Mark my words, the only way we find ourselves with one championship belt is if they leave boxing as nothing but a twitching, rotten corpse.
We can but hope. I have a similar situation where I work. My company is one of the major health and safety accreditation bodies out there..............but there are ****ing loads of others. I mean loads, which means all contractors claim to be with the best scheme. The industry is in a bit of a mess but we are working toward a major body where all schemes recognise each other - called SSiP. This is the way I see boxing going but it will get worse before it gets better.
Bring back on champ, definitely. Reduce the number of divisions to 9 or 10. I don't think they should bring 15 rounders back though That's just the amateur system which is no different, the same divisions just have different names
it would be better if fighters were allowed to fight to the death, or till they drop. That would be the most effective way to rid the sport of phony tough guys and pretenders
shut up punk. Oooo was an extra three rounds too much for to you to handle? Did that hurt its wittle feelwings?
