Dawson fights in August against Pascal. Bute should fight once more before the end of the year and that leaves a big gap.

Will Hopkins accept Bute's challenge or will he prefer to retire? We'll see.

In any case, with Ward, Dirrell and co. tied up in the Showtime tournament, Bute needs to look elsewhere for a big fight. It's time he took on a big fight now. He has proven himself against world class punchers, brawlers and pressure fighters.

It's time for Lucian to fight skilled, intelligent, fast fighters with good ring generalship. Hopkins scores extremely highly in 3/4 of those categories, but his stamina is way off. He is not the fighter he once was, that is for sure. Perhaps he should retire.

It would be a very hard fight for Bute if Hopkins trains to win (and if he takes on the fight, he will train to win!) but Bute is ready to take on big challenges now.

Win or lose, he will make his fans proud, .... yet again! That much is guaranteed.

Back to you, X! Fancy a go at popping another live, prime champ's cherry?:hey

If Hopkins doesn't like the sound of facing Bute, then Bute should fight his mandatory and then take on the winner of Dawson vs. Pascal.

    Bring it on!:good

After dawson EASILY BEATS PASCAL, you won't be saying that. Dawson will beat bute and I don't think Bute has the sack to go on with such a challenge. Pascal's over-rated ass is gonna get shut out in a 12-0 or 11-1 type of fight. Bute would get maybe three rounds vs dawson and will be bewildered when he realizes he doesn't have a speed or size or SKILL advantage against dawson

Man, that was sweet! We might catch a couple of ears about a guy everybody should discover. Anybody 168-175 that is ready to go will have a chance if they are up to it.

    Life is good ! :good

Hopkins will not fight bute and if he did, I would be very surprised. Would favor bute over hopkins slightly.

Bute could very well face his mandatory by the end of August in Romania (winner of the Brinkley-Bika fight which Interbox will promote in May).

I like the Hopkins fight before the end of 2010. It's a fight Bute would win.

Dawson I think is all wrong for Bute. He's a big, very skilled guy. The size combined with the fact that Dawson fights relatively well from the outside would seriously complicate Bute's life...

Pascal-Bute will eventually happen and if Pascal can somehow upset Dawson, then it's litterally written in the stars that Pascal-Bute would be made in 2011 !!

I have always wanted Bute to dare to be great, and the only way is to fight the best, even (and particularly if) he's not the favourite in that match-up.

And I have always wanted him to fight the best once he was ready. It won't be easy for anyone to beat Bute now.

So, I think he is ready to fight the best and make his fans proud, win or lose.

Bring on Dawson! Bring on Hopkins!

Bute deserves a big fight now.

Dawson is beating Pascal's ass in his backyard to send a message to Bute. Dawson will call him out, HBO will push for it in November/December and we'll see what kind of grapefruits Bute has

Bute would lose to Dawson, he would lose to Pascal too. Bute would beat Hopkins though.

Out of curiosity, what does Pascal do that would make him beat Bute ?

He's fast, hits hard, has good footwork, uses good angles, and is really tough. Really this fight can go either way.

Very, very few are graced with ability to become great.

But quite a lot of those never become great because they dare not try.

Daring to be great is one of the necessary ingredients of greatness. :thumbsup

Bute is, by far, the best 168 lb. fighter in the world today. Miranda went 12 rounds with Ward while Bute knocked Miranda out in the 3rd round. Ward refused to fight in the tournament unless he had all his fights in his hometown and would refuse to fight in the tournament if Bute had been allowed to fight in it.
