Bring on that fight - Bute vs winner Dawson-Pascal vs Hopkins - anyway likable: Bute fighting Hopkins at once or Bute fighting the winner of Dawson-Pascal or Bute fighting the winner of Dawson-Pascal winner vs Hopkins. No other fights have any meaning for me b4 the Showtime tourney is over. Hopkins is open to fight anyone from 168-175 pounds even if he has to split with GBP. Bute had a great result and is as high up there as Dawson ( and/or Pascal ). One of these should happen by November.

Joppy was still past it and fighting above his optimal weight. No way a guy like Bute should ever lose to a washed up fighter like Joppy.

I'd have no problem with a Bute/winner of Pascal/Dawson fight. But it seems to me that it's a fight that could be put off for another couple of years. Leave Bute rack up his defences at 168 until he can fight the winner of the ST tournament and Dawson cold be doing the same at 175. If Hopkins is going to fight anyone at 175 then it should be Dawson although I realise that fight is highly unlikely to happen.

You know, this is what will probably happen, but it would still be a shame. Good fighters should fight each other when they are in their prime, when they are fresh. So what if one of them loses? They can fight again a few years later. Otherwise you end up like Calzaghe, only getting to fight the big names at the very end of your career, when the big names are far off their peak.

Bute's racked enough defenses and enough wins. Same goes for Dawson. Now it's time for them to step into the breach, win or lose. This is what boxing is all about - fighting the best. I'd rather watch two very good fighters fight each other more than once than to see each putting lesser fighters away one after another. What is the point of that? Are they both proven? Yes. So let's get it on.

And you have a better analysis? All I can make on a matchup between Dawson-Bute is a guess, style wise I say Dawson has the advantage because of height, reach, speed, and overall boxing skills. But we have to wait and see how Dawson looks against Pascal.

Dawson can possibly lose to Pascal, he's going to be 10 months inactive.

Possible, but, I would say, unlikely. Pascal is now a good enough fighter to give anyone at least a good/very good fight, though, if his shoulder doesn't bother him. I wouldn't give Pascal more than a 15% chance... he would have to hit Dawson hard and flush and then to finish him too, to win.

Pascal will have been inactive for 9 months. Let's also not forget that Pascal had shoulder surgery. Dawson is perfectly healthy. He has still been able to train and keep active the whole time. Pascal has had to limit his physical activity. Dawson is a bad matchup for Pascal. Expect Dawson to win a wide decision or even stop Pascal.

Dawson will absolutely destroy Bute, now if Bute beats Dawson I'll eat crow, I just don't see that happening.

What's next for Bute? .... well July 25 will be his mandatory in Bucharest, Romania against the Bika - Brinkley eliminator winner.
Second fight will highly probably NOT take place higher than 170lb. Bute and his trainer S. Larouch say he doesn't want to leave the SMW division yet, there are at least 5 or 6 fighters worthy to battle at this weight class. As boxers get older (Bute is 30) it gets harder to loose the weight, so no passing to 175lb yet. Chad Dawson (27 yo) should come down from his ivory tower to fight Bute, if he wants to face him soon. Pascal would do it for sure ... he is young as well and was SMW a year ago. If not let them take a chill pill and Bute will climb to LHW in 2-3 years from now, after cleaning the floor with the Supper Sicks. (Yumm, yumm ... what a tasty meal).
Ok, lets get back to the future opposition... The super six guys that wont make the finals, could be a decent workout for Bute. He could invite them for sparring for a bigger fight or face them if they refuse :p.
Robert Stieglitz could be an interesting target as well. He has a belt and is not worthy of it.... so .... get your ass into the ring... In the last years, Bute was not very active... 5 fights in 25 months. ( http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=223046&cat=boxer ) So if he's getting ready for the Supper Sicks Sundae Cherry, might as well fight more often to stay sharp. He could do Miranda, Bika and Stieglitz by the end of the hurricane season... Who knows they might even name one after him...
Bernard, Bernard, Bernard ... what an awesome career ... why, oh tell me why do you wanna end up like the most respected Ali.
PREDICTION: if Bute - B-Hop happens, Berny will suffer his first and last KTFO of his career... Even though ppl don't really want to see this fight ... HBO is gonna present it if it will come to it! And this time, ppl will go to see Bute not Hopkins, (if this happens it will be in Autumn '10 in Montreal), this is why the fight might take place.
In any way... who ever the F#$% Lucian is gonna fight in the next year and a half or so... it will not bring him recognition and full respect from the American and European boxing fans. Nobody will be hot enough, world class enough, or legendary enough to prove his supremacy, which don't get me wrong, I'm questioning myself!!! Bute is a top 3 SMW, any way u put it. At this level, styles make fights,we all know that ... But I have some questions for you ...

How important is adaptability in a boxer's arsenal ? IMO determining a boxer's capacity to adapt during a fight to his opponent's fight style is a great path to knowing the outcome of the battle. Who are the most adaptable boxers at SMW during the last 10 - 15 years or more? What were they doing right? Can we compare them to the current SMWs? Food for thought!

I heard quite some interview with Bute's team today and Bute WILL NOT fight at 175 anytime soon. So any fight with Bhop, Pascal, Dawson, etc. must be discarded. For sure he want to keep his belt so he will have to fight Brinkley/Bika soon enough. So what's left aside that? From what I heard in some media if Bute wants the best and wants HBO to be on his side he cannot fight a lot of fighter. Pavlik is out of question, so I heard that Williams could go up to 168.

We dont know now, but Jean Bédard from Interbox told CKAC today that he will announce the next fight in Romania with the name of Bute's opponent as soon as in two weeks. So we will not wait too long to know who it will be.

    :patsch jesus

Anyways, No one has mentioned the Super 6 guys. The 3rd round starts around Aug so Bute could fight one of the eliminated guys by maybe October could he not? He only really needs 1 fight between now and then.

He can fight his manditory sometime in the summer then there should be a couple guys from the Super 6 he could try to line up..........Am i forgetting something cuz it doesn't seem as desperate of a situation as people are making it sound?

Dawson said he can make 168(the fight will probably happen at 170) Hopkins said he can make 170.

I realy hope that Bute will find somebody to stay with HBO until the super6 is finish and if they wants to go at 170 with Hopkins or Dawson, it's all good, but from what I heard they seem to aim for 160lbs fighters.
