weird match ups, i think. vasquez is currently 8 pounds away from jmm and moving from 122 to 130 and facing one of the top dogs in that division will be stupid for izzy. see hatton-mayweather

montiel-mijares is more applealing to me that rafa-mijares. even a donaire-mijares match would be better IMO.

also, i think rafa would go up to 126 rather than stay at 122 and wait for challengers

I always thought about Marquez-Mijares fight being made. I believe Mijares is at a big disadvantage in this one though. He could still pull it off but it requires extreme perfection.

Leave Mijares outta this, There is PLENTY of competition at 115lbs so that Mijares could forge a very decent legacy by just cleaning out 115lbs. If Marquez could move down to 118 in the future and maybe after Mijares possibly cleans out 115lbs than that would be a hell of a fight. As of right now I just want to see all the possible fights at 115lbs. This division is stacked!

Please don't get me to drink mate, it always ends up in bad results and I do it sparringly.

That being said, a couple of 32 oz malt's would be fantastic right now.:yep :good

Rafa would knock the teeth out of Mijarez, too big, too strong.

Juan Manuel would outbox the teeth out of Vazquez, too skilled.

Okay, I though that the reactions will be like this and the one-sided scenario is more than possible in both fights. But: Vazquez is still eyeing the 126 class, at least that's what he said before the fight, and what can you do? And I think he would get more money and LESS danger fighting a 35 year-old counter-punching Marquez than an aggressive, very young Guerrero or Linares who would take him apart. IF he moves up and if he's looking for a superfight, underdog or not, this is the only and logical superfight. And even if JMM is the bigger of the two, as I've said, he's not an aggressive, offensive styled fighter, he's a boxer and a counter-puncher. And Vazquez is still one of the quickest, fastest fighters out there with a great punch. What can you do if he moves up? And if he moves up, I'd like to see him fight JMM at 126 more than Linares and Guerrero who are terrific fighters on the edge to move up to SFW... too big for Israel...

Mijares getting hurt? Well, possible, but Rafael isn't getting any younger, you never know how he'll fight after this great trilogy and it's so hard to hit Mijares that I don't see him getting hurt bad... Rafa winning a decision or maybe by a combination KO, but certainly not beat-down. My whole point is that Mijares is a big SFW, and remember that Pacquiao and a lot of other fighters moved up in weight as they were getting older - so given Cristian's size, I don't think that BW is a huge disadvantage at all. Calderon moved up from SW. Both Marquez moved up a year ago. Morales and Barrera moved up several weights in their career and they were best at FW, their 2nd class. So I don't see the murder here. Mijares is very young, very talented and very good defensively to compete with Rafael at any weight. Of course both him and Vazquez would be the underdog, but hey, they'd fight older fighters and it's just one class north of their weight... and we'd see superfights!

Exactly. JMM stops Vazquez with in 3 rounds. To strong and skilled for Vazquez!

JMM never was a fearless puncher and he's more like a counter-puncher in these years. Who did he finish off quicky at the elite level in his career? Nobody... And PacMan moved up from a lower class just a half year before they met. He's not a KO artist but a masterful boxer...

I see the size and psysical disadvantage, but in 2008, I see Linares and Guerrero as a bigger threat to Vazquez' chin and it's because they are REALLY BIG FWs and more offensive than JMM.

So if Israel moves up (probably) and Rafael moves down (a possibility) who should they face? Who are the BIG NAMES?
