I think Roy's main problem was his confidence going into the 2nd and 3rd fights. I think he has racked up some solid wins and would be much more competetive (given Tarver's last couple performances) and may have a shot to beat him this time around

    That hardly makes sense.

I'll leave it as a puzzle as to why not.

Even if Roy won this time, it wouldn't matter much since Tarver is done now. I'd rather see Roy give Glen Johnson a rematch. Very risky, I know, but if Roy could indeed avenge his bad KO loss it would mean a lot for his legacy.

Not really, Ali beat him twice and lost once on a disputable decision. On the topic, I want to see the fight, and then Roy to beat Johnson. Go Roy you legend! :bbb

I was also going to mention him rematching Johnson. I would love to see Roy avenge his losses to tarver and johnson for his legacy. The thing is BOTH fights are winnable for Roy (depending on how he shows up).

Will V then be a $50 PPV live from a retirement home?

Tarver would beat Roy Jones Jr again even as he continues to decline.

Look do you want RJJ dead or what ?

    Tarver still spanks that ass.

I agree with you Scar and anyone else who says he should fight Tarver again. I'm cool with Roy fighting Tarver or GlenCoffe  Johnson again (win or lose against Dawson). Roy needs to beat one of those guys. Until then I will never believe he's serious about anything besides getting low end PPV paydays.

If he could somehow beat Tarver handily, then Johnson, and ultimately fight and defeat Chad Dawson, that would be HUGE for him legacy-wise at his age. Three fights. Three wins and he retires giving the world a reminder of who he used to be.

Lacy does nothing for Roy Jones Jr.

Except for about 50 separate threads on ESB inside of 72 hours.

Tarver looked 100 times worse against Dawson than when he fought and beat Jones 4 years ago. Roy has improved since their last meeting. I think this time around, Jones wins by decision

You know, that's really hard to say considering Tarver's level of opposition. He fought Dawson twice. And made Woods look awful.

It wouldn't shock me if the 4th fight is similiar to the first 3 in that Tarver's style still gives RJ trouble. But i would favor RJ this time because he's now fighting with confidence. But a straight left by Tarver can still change things. And RJ can be hit.

I think that it's a good idea to fight both Tarver and Dawson again. Roy is fighting to exorcise his demons. No better way to do that than to face them head on.

I don't think Tarver has the same speed to land that same counter overhand left that he landed in their last 2 fights. I think Roy outboxes him to a decision this time.
