Damn. I forgot about Broner the convict. Hold up, I'm a little tipsy, so help me out who's the WBA champ and who's the interim WBA champ?
Never mind, forgot he was stripped before the Ashley Theophane defense. Just assumed it was another case of the WBA having multiple versions of the same world title in circulation. You're right, Burns is THE light welter champ per the WBA.
That said, and I mentioned this during the RBR, I think Troyanovsky with his size and power would probably be Crawfords biggest test, or maybe not. Crawford may be that damn good!
Burns vs. Broner interest anybody? :think Best purse the Brit is apt to get (unfortunately for him all the lucrative domestic clashes - ie Crolla, Flanagan, Campbell - would be down at lightweight and he can't make that any longer) and for Broner this is the easiest route back to championship, just reclaiming the belt he was stripped of - both since he is already positioned atop the ratings in the WBA and because Troyanovsky is a bit riskier (let alone Crawford). Wouldn't be a bad fight either. Reflects on what a shallow division this is, though, that all it would take is Crawford moving up to leave Burns/Broner as having an argument to the number one spot.
Everything you could point to in favoring Troyanovsky were also reasons people said Postol would be successful. ...he wasn't. Postol > Troyanovsky (in every category except power and even there Viktor's is underrated and Eduard's overrated so they're in truth not all THAT far apart)
Would Ryabinsky write him a big fat check to match him with his guy in Russia like he did with Wlad? :think
And for the record I wouldn't favor Troyanovsky, I just recognize the problems he brings to the table. It an entirely different safe to crack.
