It's hard for me to understand how some people can think Haye has a chance to beat the big Klit

Vitali is taller than Wlad although his reach is a little shorter, but what really plays into Vitali's cards is that he has an akward defensive style. His leaning back combined with tha ability to still through serious jabs while doing that will be too much for Haye. In addition, it was already mentioned a couple of times, Vitali has a really good chin and he's the best volume puncher in the heavyweight division. You just won't win a decision against this dude, because he outpoints you at will. What is even worse is that Vitali, old like he is, is a fighter with balls of steel. He won't be scared to take a punch and he won't be scared to knock you into unconsciousness either if he has to. The guy is (still) the real day at present and Haye has a snowball's chance in hell to win against him. Only an injury could avoid the inevitable.

Biggest danger Vitali would present to Haye imo, is that Vitali has a way of crowding you. He intimidates you with his presence.

How does VK do this? He's not particularly good at cutting the ring off or anything, but its the unorthodox way he feints as he's coming in, he's able to get closer than you would ordinarily allow a conventional fighter to get to you, due to the rhythm what he fights in, and the feints he uses when applying pressure, which can offset your timing for counters, and! make you reluctant to get off first when he edges into range, because he has the ability to sway back and drop a counter on you.

I see Haye backing up trying to use the same strategy he tried with Wladimir, waiting for Vitali to commit himself, to give up his height so he can counter him, but I believe his counter punching will be thrown off by the rhythm Vitali fights in, and the feints he uses, and that, that will allow Vitali to edge too close to him, and will allow him to be the one getting off first, beating him to the punch with a 1 2, and that the fight might be over before its even started.

I believe Vitali will land significantly before Haye does, and the only positive I can think of for Haye, is that his head-movement might throw Vitali's timing off, so Vitali becomes reluctant to lead off himself, that said, I just expect more unorthodox feints from Vitali in that situation, or him to try and stick the jab on Haye to stabilize him. Haye was good defensively against Wladimir, but Wladimir's punches are on one level, on your eye line, so I think when your intune with what he's throwing, the rhythm of when he's throwing, they're potentially easier to avoid, where as Vitali throws from the hip a lot, and has more of an arsenal than Wladimir, he can bring punches from underneath or around the sides.

To beat a Klit, you need a jab imo. You cant rely on them giving up their advantages so you can counter, or leading off with big power shots, or trying to offset them with movement, cause Wlad is too cautious and good at cutting the ring down, and Vitali is too consistent, meaning he will eventually catch up to you and give you a systematic beat down.

In theory Haye could take advantage of Vitali not being that good at cutting the ring down, but Haye doesn't use enough! movement at times to create those angles imo. Now Haye has the potential to counter Vitali's right hand when he's aggressive, as when Vitali decides to throw hard, he has a tendency to let his feet catch up with each other and falls in a bit, but how significant is a counter right hand or uppercut gonna land? And this situation will probably only occur when Vitali is being overly aggressive because he's bossing the fight, and I expect Haye will be be out of there before this happens, as he wont be able to take a prolonged beating like Adamek.


If I were Haye, I would get my jab outta mothballs, use the movement, double the jab to get in and out to run my combinations off, but one of the most important things Haye might have to do, is get Vitali's respect, cause Vitali fights like the bigger man, and you dont want him to keep trying to walk in your front door to put it on you. Can Haye though, fight a non contact fight for 12 rounds against someone as consistent as what Vitali is, and not get hurt, can he get Vitali's respect to stop him walking him down, can he get to Vitali before Vitali gets to him?

 

Fritz, Wlad and Manny (not to mention other imput from members of team Klitschko) will be giving Vitali advice.

Wlad has been in there with Haye, he will be able to give Vitali a great perspective on what to do. Same with Steward, then you have Fritz.

If it was a division stacked full of exciting talent you may have a point, but the fact is it's not. Even many hardened boxing fans have no real taste for 99% of the fights that can be made at HW right now, let alone the general public.

 

Really? let's hope not for all our sakes, he only landed about one meaningful power punch all night. I hope Vitali fights differently.
