How much of the "problem" is down to the Internet and how much is just down to the fact there are more TV channels and more things for working class men to do with their spare time these days?

TBooze do you think a less skilled fighter has a harder time in the sport in this day and ag or would he have had a better career in the days of jungle drums?

Amazing mate. I've got a picture of me, Hearns and Duran that I can't stop gawping at!!! I'll get it scanned and post it up here over the next couple of days.

Duran was great value for money, he's really mellowed since his fighting days. Hearns and Bunce were on good form as well. Great day out!!:good

There are certain lesser skilled fighters who get much easier ride in this day and age.

Heavyweights have always had a free ride in the sport, but now a days it seems if you have an eye catching gimmick and better still, is someones who was good, Daddy, you make money in the sport.

The honest skilled but perhaps seemingly colourless fighter suffers.

How is Duran's English? ;) Is Hearns doing better health wise? Sadly it seemed to me, Hearns was showing signs of Pugilistic Dementia, a few years back. Say it ain't so!

That is an interesting perspective I genuinely thought that the good journeymen and the human punchbags would have made more money back then.
You move from town to town fighting prospects, lose and written reports go in but not everyone reads them. Onto the next job.

These days if someone is a push over the whole world knows he's a push over and wont accept it, pay for it etc is that not fairer?

Duran has a "double act" going with his son translating and I think he knows a lot more English than he lets on.

Hearns didn't sound that bad TBH, he has a deep, quiet voice but he didn't sound that "punchy". He's in good shape and you can still imagine him saying that old "Detroit, I SHALL return" line and scaring the **** out of his opponent.

It was a great mate, even if the guy next to me wanted to know why Duran couldn't speak any other language but "Cuban".:good

But the casual fan does pay for a lesser product, even when we know the fighter concerned is a bit of a push over.

It comes back to my point about information, just because it is there, it does not mean it is used properly. Boxing is more than paper stats, very often there is an emotional attachment to a fighter that means sound judgement is cancelled out.

Yes this happened back in the day when we all knew deep down Bomber Bruno or Our 'enry did not really stand a chance against Ali or Tyson, but because of the Internet it seems to happen to more and more lesser fighters who get a bit publicity and the extra money that comes with that, pushing back the more talented fighters.
