Is that really safe given your history with Flint Island? I guarantee it will be his next avatar if you post it up. Sounds like you had a great time:thumbsup.

oh! if it wasnt for the internet, most boxing fans would never have seen any of valero's fights and known about him...

its up to promoters to look at how they can find new ways to use the internet, embrace it and bring this sport into the modern age. to be quite honest, if the internet helps get a few of the old men who bring this sport down(not all do) out of the sport then its a good thing.

    Gaz - I'm jealous mate.

I went to the Tyson show at the Devonshire recently and it was pretty turd. It's the only show of that kind that I've been to so I thought I'd leave any future ones, presuming that they would be similar. How gutted I am to have not got involved in that now!

Which one did you go to? There was one in Wigan which was the one I was mooting...

Made up for you though, getting a pic with the legends!

The one in Ellesmere Port. They had a auction afterward and Steve Bunce nearly got booed off stage for trying to get the bidding started on a signed George Best picture. He had to withdraw the item unsold in the end!!:good

I got the picture with the 2 fighters and also bought a picture of Leonard, Duran and Hearns that was signed by Hearns and Duran for £125 (I'd had a bit of ale down me by that time!!).

    Some great feedback, people.

I am going to accept that you will not be changing your mind, although I still do not understand your stance at all. The internet can be nothing but a good thing for boxing. It's a shame that not all can see it as it's clear as day, IMO.

I admit that it was a pretty big climbdown on my part. My post count was mental last year after I lost my job. I still think I average about 20 posts a day even though I post nowhere near that figure anymore:lol:.

I don't blame you, mate! I was considering posting some pictures of myself on here before, but after the now infamous TFFP thread, I don't think it's such a good idea:lol:.

You are right; the oldguard needs to embrace the internet and the normal fans that use it rather than continue to sneer at them. To use Gaz as an example of one of the golden oldies who uses the internet as a source of good, I can almost picture the day he rose up and, in a defiant scouser-laced tone, boomed: 'No, **** the zimmer with the spoiler, I am going to buy one of those newfangled PCs all of the kids talk about. I'm getting with it and there's nothing nobody can do about it'.

Barry Hearn and the oldguard who are trying to ostracize their own fanbase need to get with the times. It is no coincidence that companies such as Golden Boy and Top Rank are doing so well, because they are trying to slowly implement new ideas and ways of approaching the sport. Not all good, but also not all bad either. Dare I say it, but look at what the UFC is doing by adapting to the expectations and demands of fans from all sorts of generations. Boxing can learn so much, but it seems like everyone who can make positive changes are content with sticking and stagnating with what they think they know best. Boxing needs sweeping changes, and it should start with fans (aka customers!) being treated better than they are treated currently.

    Haha! Brilliant.

    Epic fail!

I went to a Ricky Hatton event in the Royal Court. Very different set up like, basically him doing stand up. But at that auction they had framed shirts of Pele and Maradona, both signed, in the one frame. Needless to say my bid of £100 didnt even come close.

Sounds like it was a great show though mate.

I'd love to see the pic you got, and a photo of the signed Leonard, Duran and Hearns one if you can take one and put them up on here.

    Well in :good

    Dont worry about it Gaz.

TFFP got some stick from me - when he posted his pic - because it was the chance to get him back - for the infamous blackmail plot scam - he tried to pull on me - where he would hack my account and send homo PM's to Claypole. :nut

Post your pic - I will be respectful of your image - and its a chance to prove once and for all your not that fat Aussie in a dickie bow doing his own ironing.:lol:
