Give me your top ten favourite fighters at the moment (worldwide); any criteria for entry you want; here's my top ten favourite boxers as of today (in order): 1 - Fernando Montiel 2 - Rafael Marquez 3 - Juan Manuel Marquez 4 - Roman Gonzalez 5 - David Haye 6 - Jorge Linares 7 - Bernard Hopkins 8 - Miguel Cotto 9 - Antonio Margarito 10 - Ivan Calderon Apologies for the dearth of local talent, but I'm a bit of a Latino nut; I am also a bit biased in favour of the little guys from the lower divisions (I just generally find their fights more entertaining). NB: Jeff Thomas just missed out in 11th place. So Brit Forum guys, who makes your top ten favourites? Elites, Contenders, Journeymen or just plain old local boys; whoever you want; all are welcome.
Bit of a random, mixed bag off the top of my head in no particular order. 1. Antonio Margarito 2. Joe Calzaghe 3. Kell Brook 4. Martin Rogan 5. Glen Johnson 6. Bernard Hopkins 7. Paul Truscott 8. Arthur Abraham 9. Breidis Prescott 10. Scott Haywood
Povetkin Alexeev Calzaghe Kessler Abraham Dzinziruk Cotto Gamboa Sorry, I can't think of two more I'm really keen on. I suppose I like little Napa.

Montiel Larios Cotto Arce Margarito JMM Gamboa Mijares Darchinyan Paquiao that's about 10. i love all them little guys too. I'd be happy watching em fight each other over and over again. Was a fan of martin Castillo too. Looking forward to seeing a lot more of the Peterson brothers as well. Very much.
1. Israel Vazquez 2. David Haye 3. Juan Manuel Marquez 4. Miguel Cotto 5. Andy Lee 6. Michael Katsidis 7. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. 8. Juan Manuel Lopez 9. Alexander Povetkin 10. Joe Calzaghe Honourable mention: Breidis Prescott for derailing the Khan hype train. Good calls on Gonzales and Linares Mac :good
I really liked him too; made a thread the other day about him (in the main forum); I thought he was really unappreciated among modern Mexico's finest. He looked shot to bits against Montiel, but he was a quality operator when in his prime.
Thanks. I like Hasegawa too, he's kind of like a smaller Calzaghe. Also Naito/Wongjongkam. I like these guys after getting a feel for their four fights, and the last one was exciting.
Cheers Ishy, I think that they both look quality. Good list yourself (apart from JCC jr - can't say I'm a big fan; no complaints about the rest though).
He's never going to be a world beater or anything but I've got bit of a soft spot for him and he provides some entertainment.
Why? He's really average to watch, essentially he makes big ass money of off the back of his name with PPV's. And as he said, he's really average to watch in the ring. The only redeeming quality is he seems a humble man.
His got balls to get into the ring after what his father did. Some Mexican would expect him to be as great as his dad when he's nowhere near that. He could have an easy life without boxing but he still fights. I think he is still a work in progress. Remember he had no amateur career like his old man and how many cab drivers did JCC Sr. fight before stepping up? The fact that he is the son of Chavez places a whole lot more pressure on his shoulders.
I understand what you mean, but you can also flip that argument and say that he has a bigger advantage over most other boxers due to who and what his father was. But to hell with it, he is your pick; thats all that matters.:good
Prescott and Khan on the same list? I like it Baileys:good I'll let you away with Mayweather, because although he is officially in retirement I suspect I'm not alone in thinking that we will soon see him back.
