I was glad to see it for free for a start.

Floyd was brilliant. Let him step it up now, he only wants big money fights but looking around that could be a struggle for the lad, the only fight which will do massive numbers right now is Pacquiao, after that where does he go? I know Mosley is there but from Mayweather's perspective it's high risk, low reward. Does he have a 6 fight contract or something though? If he does that then he can't get away with choosing easy fights.

Fact is Pacquiao-Mayweather would be huge. Although I still think Cotto beats Pac so it might not happen.

Be interesting to see how the numbers stack up against UFC, I train MMA so all my mates were round watching it and I sky+d this but I know personally I would have bought the Mayweather PPV, a big fight in boxing just has something much more special about it.

Sky need Bunce, Kerr and some other fresh faces in. I hope did good figures because it would show boxing can still attract an audience if promoted properly.

He never said that did he?

According to my Dad's mate who saw the HBO coverage Lampley was implying that Katsidis would have caused problems for the lightweight Floyd.:patsch

Great performance by Mayweather, amazing but still unsurpising given his gym dedication. Definitely hasn't lost a step and will only get better as he gets sharper. I think the rest has refreshed him and helped heal his injuries rather than hinder him.

As for Marquez, he looked bloated, slow, lacking sharpness. It's really not his weight at all. He's not a guy like Pacquiao, he hasn't got the same fast twitch muscles. He's just not that explosive guy that can keep going up in weight, past his peak weight. Lightweight and maybe 140lbs is his limit.

Marquez should go back to 135lbs and fight Valero or Guzman, or Tim Bradley at 140 would be a solid fight. Plenty of options, I don't think last night will harm him too much. He got outclassed, but it shouldn't have any major effects on him in the future.

Mayweather should fight the winner of Cotto/Pacquiao, simple as that. That makes the most sense on every level, its the best fight and makes the most money, there is no reason for it not to happen and every reason for it to happen.

To my ultimate shame when JMM had PBF on the ropes I was thinking to myself who the **** can trouble PBF style wise, Katsidis popped to mind because JMM sort of had to go head down and just fire shots to hit those shots to the chest. Then my sanity returned and I realised PBF would murder him with that basic style.

Mayweather should fight Mosley next, and then the winner of Cotto/Pacquaio.

TFFP - There is one reason for it not to happen. That reason has the surname.....................Arum

He isn't a good reason and won't be able to stop it if both want it. Arum will come to his senses when he gets over his initial arrogance and the forces of TV, fans and the money he stands to make conspire against him. There are no fights that make anywhere near as much sense.

Yep, it looked like a lightweight v welterweight. As soon as Marquez tasted Mayweathers power he was very cautious, not his usual all action self. I was shocked that I didnt see any of Marquez (that I can recall anyway) 3 or 4 punch combos - partly because Mayweathers was too evasive and maybe he didnt have the confidence due to Mayweathers size???

I would love to see Katsidis v Marquez and Mayweather v Mosely

I don't think he had the confidence because everytime he set his feet to punch he got hit. Kinda like Pavlik against Hopkins.

I agree but Arum and Floyd genuinely dont like each other. Arum has already stated that he will not give Floyd a 50/50 split. Also Manny seems to buy into it too. Not saying he isn't worthy of the recognition he is getting as he surely is. My worry though is that he is on the verge of becoming a bit of a prima donna.

He was trying to demand more than originally contracted from the Hatton fight and now the demands on the Cotto situation too. Couple this with the comments from Arum then I do have my doubts whether it will go ahead !

I sincerely hope your right though

That's what I mean, its more the fighters than Arum that have to come to agreement. They are obviously two fairly big egos at the negotiating table. But you know, if Pac comes up and says he accepts 55-45 what is Arum going to do about it? He's making more than he would if Pacquiao was fighting anybody else, by an absolute landslide, because he receives a %. TV would be right behind it putting on pressure, the fans definitely want it more than any other fight.

I think it would be more likely Pacquiao would buckle and accept something lower too, he really wants to fight Mayweather, so does Roach. But either way, Mayweather is going to have to man up and fight either Mosley or Pacquiao/Cotto, fighters he hasn't exactly been eager to face. Don't see any other fights for him...

But this is getting ahead of ourselves of course, Pac has a huge job on his hands as it is.

Yep spot on. I however think that Pac will beat Cotto comfortably.

Its daft really. Wouldn't it be refreshing to see either one of the fighters come out and just say "I will take 50% all in, TV, revenue, purse etc etc"

Straight down the line. Undoubtedly the 2 best in the fighters in the world, not being greedy just wanting to get it on. Not happening but would be nice !

Absolutely, and from where I'm sitting 50/50 is pretty much fair. Problem is egos, and you'll always get one (likely Mayweather) saying he brings in far more money.

Which may well be correct, but also forgets that the fight as a package is what sells.

Yep. Also with the revenue from the Phillipines it would be totally justifiable to think that Pac generates more money. His fans are pure die-harders too :good
