    116-112 Leonard

I had this pretty easy for Leonard, I surprised myself. Ring mastery is very important in this fight. Even though they are largely fighting to the same gameplan through 12 there are points when Leonard is in control and points when Hagler is in control. Just speculation on my part... but I don't think Hagler's experiment with orthodox cost him. SRL looked too sharp early for mine even after he turned southpaw in the early stages. Hagler only became effective when SRL's footspeed waned, inevitably, after the constant movement and even ineffective pressure of Hagler.

    Leonard 116-112...

Hagler just didn't do enough to win the fight and theres no way I'd score a round for walking forwards...

Love this fight. One of the purest exhibition of boxing ever. It's on the wrong thread though. Nothing close about this fight. Leonard took away Haglers intensity I think it was the 7th before he landed a decent shot Hagler was made to look like a slow plodder,it does'nt matter what stance he chose because he could'nt get his feet close enough to get his shots off and the frustration showed. 8rnds to 4. 116-112

    Hehe...why?

    Great fight, I enjoyed it.

I think round 10 is a great one to debate. Most scored it for Hagler...I'm not sure about that

    Leonard: 10 10 10 10 9 10 9 9 10 9 10 9
    Hagler: 9 9 9 10 10 9 10 10 9 10 9 10

    Leonard 115 - 114 Hagler

Hagler threw basically nothing in the first two; Leonard outworked him.

In the third, Leonard finished well to take an otherwise even round.

In the fourth, Hagler landed more in the early part of the round with some decent jabbing. Leonard threw the most eye catching shots with a flashy bodyshot and the four-punch combination near the end. However, only two of those shots landed clean, and Hagler was landing more consistently some solid uppercuts and bodyshots out of the clinches so I decided to score that round even.

Leonard looked like he was going to win the fifth with some good, hard shots throughout. However, Hagler was never far behind with work on the inside. Hagler then dominated the last 30 seconds of the round, landing a big uppercut - best punch of the fight at that time - and a great combination against the ropes.

Hagler started well in the sixth, but Leonard outworked him for the rest of the round with lots of jab-rights.

I thought Hagler clearly won round 7; he was much more relentless and applied lots more pressure to Leonard.

8-close round, but I gave it to Hagler for landing the cleaner shots.

I gave the ninth to Leonard. He landed several good combinations in the first minute and then undid a lot of Hagler’s work with the flurries of punches he threw out of the corner and at the end of the round. A lot of the punches missed, but a lot of them visibly moved Hagler’s head.

10 – most of Leonard’s shots were glancing or blocked, and I thought Hagler landed more solid shots, again with decent bodypunching and uppercuts on the inside.

Leonard won round 11 clearly in my opinion.

Hagler won round 12 by outworking Leonard in the end. Most of Leonard’s combinations were soft and not as meaningful as Hagler’s consistent punching.

    Close fight...

12-4 in favour of Leonard at present...

It's been fairly conclusive both times so far...the Brit forum has spoken.

    What next?
