    See, dead thread right there.:deal

Lets admit it, this is the world of boxing. There are enough close barnstormers to keep this thread going for a long, long time. So lets do them first.

I recommended Whitaker - De La Hoya. Not a great fight in itself, but its like Corrales-Castillo I in comparison to Joe-B-Hop.

I rewatched Calzaghe-Hopkins for the first time since the actual fight a couple days ago! I thought about suggesting it but knew I would get shot down :yep

In all honesty I enjoyed it far more than I thought I would be, interesting fight to watch despite the lack of great action. I had it Calzaghe clearly after watching it this time, I remember having it to Calzaghe but close at the time and I expected to see more damage from Hopkins but in reality, he didn't do close to enough to win the fight IMO.

"Ring Generalship", like it excuses a boxer from actually landing punches in order to win a fight.

Slowpoke but I believe I had Martinez up a round or two.

Epic fight though. December's always a great time for boxing matches.

    :yep

I'm sure it was all that 'Ring-Generalship' nonsense that I had read on Hopkins-Calzaghe on here that warped my memory of the fight. Its amazing how much you can forget of a fight in even 2 years....I was honestly expecting a very even fight

I had it 8 rounds to 4 for Calzaghe, I think I would struggle to find one more round for Bhop.

Yep It may put people off I suppose :p

Yep I agree, it needs a revaluation and re-score but maybe a bit down the line when some more exciting fights have been done

Have you re-scored it since then? I didn't score it on the night but remember thinking Hopkins edged it (at the time I liked Calzaghe and wanted him to win). When I did get round to scoring it I had it 114-113 Hopkins. I never want to watch it again though.

I keep meaning to re-score it but can never summon up the willpower.

So you had it 6-6+the kd, I cannot argue with that.

There were some rounds where Hop was barely throwing anything but Calzaghe was just flailing at air....hard fight to score IMO, though you could feasibly score it as Antcull did....just one of those fights :good

trust me, I used to think this was a **** fight, but I'd gladly watch this over Monzon-Griffith II which is arguably the worst fight between two greats I have ever seen

Finally got round to scoring the fight, I scored it 115-115

    Round 1 - Even
    Round 2 - Martinez
    Round 3 - Martinez
    Round 4 - Martinez
    Round 5 - Williams
    Round 6 - Williams
    Round 7 - Williams
    Round 8 - Even
    Round 9 - Williams
    Round 10 - Martinez
    Round 11 - Martinez
    Round 12 - Williams

The most notable thing from my 2nd watching was that Martinez wasn't as badly gassed as I remember - he was nackered yes but still throwing good scoring shots

As for the next fight, how far back were you thinking of going?

Is Jofre-Harada 1 too far back?

Great fight, probably not a great idea for me to watch it while waiting for Chad Dawson though.
First time I watched it I got the same score but gave Williams the first round so I must have changed my mind on at least one other round too but Im not sure which ones.
I think rounds 1,8,11 and 12 were real swing rounds.
