Tomorrow is the last day to score this one, people. I don't think that many people have taken part with this one, though. I shall be scoring it soon, just haven't got round to it yet.

bump. Still short of numbers. Great fight for people to score while waiting for Calderon-Segura or the MMGAY

Right, if everyone doesn't mind, I'd like to change the last days to score fights to Sunday. Everyone has until the end of today to score Chacon - Boza-Edwards II if they still want to participate. The fight can be viewed here:

Thread has been updated. The new fight to score is JMM-Pacquiao II. That Segura-Calderon fight was a beaut as well:yep.

    Love this one......

    1. Even 10-10

Both are slightly tentative in the opening round, Marquez's footwork keeps him at range and forces Pacquiao to lean in with his punches, but doesn't really counter that much with good, solid punches. Each land a couple of good shots, Marquez a few rights and Pacquiao as usual the left.

    2. Marquez 10-9.

This is more the type of fight we'd expect, Pacquiao coming forward and looking to unload lots of power shots, Marquez giving ground and looking to punish Pacquiao when he throws the left. In this instance I take Marquez's control of the round and effective lead lefts over the aggressive but not particularly effective Pacquiao. I don't think Pacquiao was particularly hurt at the end, more off balance. Could be 10-9 either way or even.

    3. Pacquiao 10-8

In the early exchanges, much like the 2nd round you see Marquez controlling the fight, using Pacquiao's aggression against him at times and making him tentative. Until Pacquiao makes a late rally it looks like it's his round again, then bang! Down he goes at the end of the round, then nearly down again.

Note - one thing I'm noticing is that the Compubox numbers aren't really reflecting what you see in the ring...... Lampley makes a point that Pacquiao landed twice what Marquez did in the first, the reverse in the second, but both rounds to me are pretty close.

    4. Pacquiao 10-9.

Marquez to me still seems a bit groggy after the KD in the last round and eats plenty of solid shots early in the round. At times he pushes Pacquiao back, but isn't particularly effective and goes back to his original plan. A decent little rally at the end, but still Pacquiao pretty clearly.

    5. Marquez 10-9.

Back to the sort of fight Marquez wants. His defence is generally sound and he causes Pacquiao to lose patience and counters with some really good right hands. Most of Pacquiao's punches fall short, the ones that land are generally rolled or not right on the button.

    6. Marquez 10-9.

Marquez's best round of the fight so far, he's toying with Pacquiao at times, controlling the range, and taking the left hand away completely almost. Lands some very good left hooks of his own. The commentators make some good points about how the gameplans of the two are working.

    7. Even 10-10.

Hard round to score, both have their fair share of success on the outside, and when they both open up on each other. Not sure what fight Emanuel Steward is watching right now.

    8. Marquez 10-9.

Again, Marquez is controlling the pace and form the round takes. Pacquiao cut early, takes him completely out of his rhythm as he spends lots of time clowning Marquez lands some solid shots in combinations. Looks like Pacquiao might be wearing down......

    9. Pacquiao 10-9.

Much like the 7th round, a hard round to score, with both men having their share of success. Marquez controlled, Pacquiao wild. In this instance I sense Pacquiao doing more damage than Marquez, and score as such.

    10. Pacquiao 10-9.

Is Marquez starting to fade? He has his moments in this one but generally he's on the retreat as Pacquiao starts to get his left hand going.

Note - this fight is a lot closer than I remember it being!

    11. Marquez 10-9.

The battle of the right hands, Marquez wins. Pacquiao throws plenty more but isn't particularly accurate barring a late rally. I prefer his economy and accuracy over the hustle and bustle from Pacquiao.

    12. Marquez 10-9.

Probably Marquez's 2nd best round of the fight, avoiding some wild left handed haymakers from Pacquiao and landing good punches of his own, especially the uppercut.

Summary - a great fight with something for everybody, blood, guts and skill in equal measure. Lots of the rounds can be scored on what you prefer - and is certainly closer than I remember it being live. It only enforces how bad the decision was in the first fight, and how much Pacquiao had improved in those years since then.

Juan Manuel Marquez 115-114 Manny Pacquiao

I found the middle rounds really hard to score in this fight. A real gem of a fight to watch, though.
