The amount of fights I watch that are screened by HBO probably totals more than the ones I watch on Sky Sports and SBO put together. I have also watched plenty of HBOs sport documentaries in the past and they are usually very good. For those inclined, apparently they also show a lot of soaps and various other original programmes on their station(s) in the US as well.

With this in mind, would you pay for a monthly HBO subscription? Thinking about it, I probably would if it were sensibly priced between £5-£12 per month:think.

    Thoughts?:good

Why would any boxing fan say no to this? (assuming they'll also have the UK rights for the fights they show)

I would pay subscription for it,top team as well, Larry Merchant and comments by the likes of George Foreman and Lennox Lewis, though on the down side Ive heard PPV is expensive,I read they pay prices of £30 plus in USA is that right ? ,if it is its very high

I been thinking about this for a while. It be a monumental move and fantastic move for boxing in this country and the sport on a whole. So yes i would love to see it and would be calling them up straight away for a subscription.

You'd think they'd be onto something like this. Not only could they show boxing but also all the TV shows they own rights to. For a monthly subscription fee I don't see much they can lose out of it.

I was expecting this thread to be shot down, but I have been pleasantly suprised by the responses thus far:good. As Mandanda and TFFP point out, you'd think that they would have clued-up to the potential of branching out over here, though. Maybe if ESPN is successful, HBO might have a stab at the UK market as well:think. It isn't just like they show only boxing and they could feasibly garner a decent core of subscribers for the various types of programmes that they show.

A friend and I were talking about this very thing last night. We were watching cotto pacman done by HBO while he had only seen the Sky sports version before.

He was amazed in the difference between the quality.

If Carslberg made boxing shows, they would just allow HBO to carry on the good work ;)

    It's got my vote...:good

I wonder what kind of numbers they would need to be able to make it happen...:think

I would pay to watch their shows...£15 is reasonable enough to pay if you include TV programmes too...:good
