Why is Theophane not ranked? He beat the No.9 yet he isn't in the Top 15. If, like you say its based on results then he should be ranked.

 

You said on the Murat ranking that is has to be based on the result when I told you he looked like **** in the Campillo fight., but with Theophane you are basing it on the performance. You can't change the rules because you have seen some fights and not others.

If you are basing it on performances, Murat should not be 10, but because you haven't see Murat-Campillo you are solely basing it on result. The rankings lack credibility if you don't have set criteria and stick to it.

 

I'm not saying Theophane should replace him, but going on your criteria, basing it on just results, he deserves a spot in the Top 15. Your saying beating the No.9 doesnt warrant a place in the Top 15, but Demetrius Hopkins whos done nothing at WW (and was unranked before) beats unranked Arnaoutis who Rodriguez dealt with comfortably before him and he gets a place in the rankings? :huh Explain that one.

Actually just had a gander at your rules on your rankings thread. First rule states "The rankings must be based firstly on performance"....the opposite of how you have been justifying the rankings in the last few posts, all seems a bit inconsistent.

Even though I am a big fan of Uchiyama (probably the biggest on these boards :yep), I wouldn't rank him at number 1. He won the OPBF early on in his career and has some decent wins. Hussein had only been stopped by Pacquiao in the past, and he had fought Oscar Larios and Scott Harrison before, so Uchiyama stopping him was pretty impressive. Hero Bando was ranked #1 by the Japan Boxing Commission when he fought Uchiyama, Yamazaki was #7. He also fought a collection of fighters from around Asia, but none of them were particularly impressive.

Then Salgado scored the massive upset over Linares, which then got Uchiyama's promoters to push for a fight with Salgado (if Linares had won then Uchiyama wouldn't have fought for the title as early as he did). He beat Salgado, and I guess it is this win that determines where Uchiyama ranks. For me, Salgado is sort of like Kiko Martinez and Bredis Prescott - caught a ranked fighter cold to instantly boost their profile, but they don't have the ability to stay at the level of what the fighter they beat was at. Obviously, Salgado could prove me wrong, but right now that is how I feel.

Uchiyama had a throw away fight against Granados last time out, who apart from size offered very little - plus he shouldn't have had the opportunity anyway. So Uchiyama has a decent record, with his major win having to stand the test the time, but does he deserve to be ranked number 1 in a division lacking any big names? For me, no he doesn't at this time.

Also, I think Salgado is rated too high :good
