For me, either Ross, McLarnin or Canzoneri could feasibly take the top 10 spot. So, really, I should take Barney out and put Fitz at no.10 ;-)

I'm not sure you can really feasibly have Jofre or Wilde top 10. Like...most of these names are clearly ahead of them.

Yep, like Masahiko Harada for one.

    :-(

He wouldn't get in a top 10 in a month of sundays either. Not even a top 25 really. There are only really a select group of names that can make the top 10. I'm not fussed about orders really as long as Fitzsimmons isn't top ;)

The problem is how many cool ones like Burley and McFarland can you fit in while still leaving room for the guys that deserve to be there?

true maybe ive put jofre a bit high tbf, like i say if i did it again now id probably have it differently, the top two are the only constants in my list.

and i'd totally forgotten fighting harada! this is the problem i have, with compiling a p4p all time list, theres so many candidates i tend to overlook some.

one thing ive always found weird is how people can have such a strong opinion on greb being 1 or 2, i dont doubt he should be there, i always have him up there, but none of us can say we've seen him fight, its the same for a few of the names i guess, its a real shame theres no footage, but thats my little nostalgic-esque moan over haha

Burley is more viable than Harada, Jofre or Wilde.

But yeah, probably some bias involved on my part. If I was being totally fair...Archie Moore should be above him.

If you know enough about him, I would say McFarland makes an amazing case, wouldn't you?

As I said earlier in this thread though; I'm still reluctant to place him (anywhere) without really getting a grasp on him. I know enough to know he was a brilliant ATG fighter....but not quite how brilliant!

But El Bujia knows more of him than I do, so I'm fairly comfortable he's fought about that placing a lot.

Burley cannot make the top 10 under any circumstances IMO.

Don't need to see Greb. We know that he simply had to be one of the 5 greatest fighters of all-time.

    And Holman Williams most probably.

Agreed, we also have ample footage of his key opponents looking terrific, so we know what kind of fighter it would've taken to dish out hellacious beatings to those blokes.

Wildes career is hard to judge, given the relative competition in the Brit all-time stakes is possible to make a case for him near the top. With the improved competition of world all-time thats not really the case IMHO.

ye i agree, we dont need to see him, its jsut strange that theres no footage of possibly the greatest boxer of all time, and yet people still acknowledge him as such

Agreed. Definitely top 3 in a British list, certainly can't see him outside a top 5. But in this competition he slides down immensely.

Problem is he's got to make a better case than 10 other fighters and he doesn't IMHO.

Undoubtedly a great fighter but ranking Top all-time P4P? A lot of people like to throw at least one "curveball" in there I guess....
