Has anyone seen Gilberto ramirez sanchez? I found him on boxrec ages ago and have kept tabs on him since. Unfortunately haven't been able to find any footage on any of the sites I use. 20 yr old middleweight, been brought along slowly but has stepped up a bit recently. Stopped a Colombian that had a win over the not as good Miranda and an Argie that beat the other Mexican mw prospect reyes. That argie also lost a very close SD to baldomir. Strangely the Colombian he fought is 36, but the fight was for the wbc youth middleweight strap

    Panchito!

    :ibutt :ibutt :ibutt

The forgotten brother.:verysad Granted, for a reason, he's not that good, but still you gotta love the guy(no homo). Great efforts given against guys like Ruiz and Nongqayi, never really ''world class'' but full of blood and guts, plus he gave Mijares a route back.:yep

I like listening to Spanish stuff (with subtitles) so that I can improve my listening skills. It's one of the reasons why I like 'Golpe a Golpe' so much. :good

Antonio Avelar is arguably the hardest puncher in the history of the Flyweight division. Sadly not on here, his K.O of Rocky Mijares is one of the most brutal sounding one punch K.Os I've ever seen at the weight. This guy would make mincemeat of Segura and Marquez on the same night, and make room for Concepcion on the way back to the dressing room.

Against the talented and toughly-matched Alfonso Lopez, who fought pretty much everyone at Light and full Fly in the late 70s/early 80s, as well as being the ex-Flyweight champion. You get an idea of what a powerhouse Avelar was at the weight here, against one of the smaller guys of the era who was pretty inconsistent after his fights with Guty Espedas (reminds me, I've only watched one of 'em)

Shoji Oguma was a brilliant Flyweight, who fought the best and was the lineal Flyweight champ' when he ran into Avelar. Oguma gets sloppy and thinks he can trade with the Mexican. Big mistake.

Against one of the greatest Flyweights of all time, and one of the greatest Mexican fighters of all time, Miguel Canto :yep

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPeORmLXpl8[/ame]

Past his best, up at Bantam; Vs Wilfredo Vasquez Sr, the Puerto Rican had lost to Happy Lora, but would go on to win titles at 3 weights. Vasquez was a patchy fighter, but a very impressive stoppage win for Avelar.

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNxfiuRzN_c[/ame]

Jose Medel is another one of the hardest Mexican punchers of all time. Easiest way to put it (and it's doing both a disservice really! Although the comparison is fairly easy to make) if you like Rafael Marquez, read on.

Here, he picks up what is IMO one of the greatest wins by a Mexican fighter of all time, stopping the great Fighting Harada. Well worth a watch this, if only for the sheer determination Harada shows trying to rise from numerous knockdowns.

I saw Jesus Pimentel fight Olivares, and gave him a good go. That was the first fight I ever watched of Olivares funnily enough. This fight is well worth a watch, especially the 9th round! Pimentel goes down like he's been shot, and takes a horrendous two-fisted beating, getting dropped again, and then battered again. I cannot for the life of me figure out how got out of the round! Medel down in the 4th.

Medel, late in his career smacking about some domestic Jap' guy before laying waste to him.

    Enjoy :bbb

Obviously there are other fights of him (Jofre 1&2, Harada II) but I thought I'd better introduce him doing the smashing ;-)

As for Avelar, once you see how quality he is I'll show you him being iced in a round by Colombian dangerman Prudencio Cardona, which is literally one of the most brutal K.Os of all time, I'm not shitting you. How ironic it happened to Avelar :-(
