Looking at the British scene it not all bad. We have a solid and pretty deep Heavyweight scene, strong talent at light heavy, supper middle and middle. Decent talent in the welters and of course the emerging prospects in the super bantam div. For me the heavy weight scene is the best it's been for quite a while. But I believe the super bantams are really shaping up with monroe, Quigg, frampton and kid Galahad. Which division is our most talent rich?Remember were looking at divisions that are have a deep talent pool not a division with just one single star.
I'm with the Super middleweights at the moment, With the standout being Froch but I believe if he had domestic bouts with young upcoming fighters ala Groves or De Gale they would be massive plus there's opportunities for them to go up a weight and tackle Enzo and Clev :yep
The supermiddle weight division only has 3 fighters, none of them including Carl Froch are really house hold names. Tyson Fury is more of a household name than Carl Froch. Then you also have David Haye, Derek Chisora, David Price, that Joshua kid coming through in the olympics. The Heavyweight division has more exciting match ups. Nobody seems interested in Groves or Degale... I feel that Carl Froch is levels above anybody esle in Britain. Degale is a terrible fighter.
Degale's got skills, can act like a numpty at times, but the lads got talent Framton and Quigg will make the super bantam division good for us soon
Don't forget Brian Magee (not that I'm labelling him as British, but it seems we're talking about fighters who've operated on the British scene here and are eligible for the British title). That makes two fighters in the RING's top 10 ( Froch at #1, Groves at #6), the WBA interim title holder and the European champion. That's one hell of a domestic division. Kenny Anderson is probably the next best after that followed by Paul Smith. Degale may have some flaws, but he is certainly not a terrible fighter, he wouldn't be European champion (at a stage while he's still green) if he was. Super-Middlweight is definitely the strongest imo, but the Heavyweight division isn't bad at the moment, nor the Super-Bantamweight one. Featherweight is pretty strong too, but there's no World Class fighters at the weight.
Super Bantam , Super Middle & Lightweight are my 3 favourite divisions in British Boxing right now , in that order
The Middleweight scene is quite good with Murray, Barker, Macklin and Hope all fighting at European level or above. Saunders is also doing well in that division too.
Just because you think someone is a 'boring' fighter, doesn't mean they are 'terrible.' And go into more detail instead of just saying 'bad technique.'
