The Beeb need to get the ABA's back on.....if the beeb had a similar show to Sportsnight from the 70's and 80's they could do this....:think

A 1 hour show with a presenter who has the respect of the fans, fighters, promoters and sportswriters across the world.......any ideas...??:think

With the 2012 Olympics on the horizon now is the time to get behind the amateurs......Anyone who has been to the Big Fights in Las Vegas will notice that $1 is donated to amateur boxing in Nevada.....Do we do that over here......?? Do we hell.....:scaredas:

:happyWe need to pump the Amateurs big time.:happy

Steve Bunce brought amateur fighters, pro fighters, promoters and most importantly the fans together for 1 hour each week...... nobody has done that in the all years I have been following boxing.... he has gone one step further in making his show interactive on line with the forums and websites when he is presenting his hour or Live events.....there is only one person IMHO who can catapult boxing back onto the BBC and that is BUNCEY.....:yep.....:amen

Hopefully fighters like Khan, and Haye (if he can beat Valuev and becomes world champion) take pay cuts to get off PPV and fight on the beeb. They may lose tv money, but the exposure of 10-20 million people watching their fights ups the sponsorship money BIG TIME.

Just did it, Ish, mate:good. They best incorporate the Bunce campaign as well- we need all hands on deck. Is there any way to view the amount of signatures?:think The BBC's response at the bottom of the article is pathetically weak as well- boxing on ITV got more figures than the F1 on the beeb!

I've signed but I think they are pissing in the wind trying to get the big American fights shown. They need to be realistic and try to get a good domestic deal sorted out.

They want the super six on which could work. The tournament format could helop the public understand it better and we've got the British interest with Froch.

I don't see much chance of them showing Cotto-Pac like BN want them too but you never know.

I hear what your saying, but wouldn't the big overseas fight with no strings attached on a delayed or highlight basis be more cheaper then signing a domestic promoter on a long deal?

tbh, i'd be happy with anything

    Signed :good

As Gaz says, they should be targeting the BBC to show domestic fights - why don't they try and get the Hayemaker contract (minus Haye of course, but some good fighters under Hayemaker and always good quality shows) or Henessy (Again, some good fighters and good match-ups) once the deal runs out at the end of the year with ITV?

Realistically, I'd like some British title fights and maybe some Euro fights as well. The Top Rank deal surely wasn't that expensive compared to some of the other stuff on the beeb, though:think.

Let's hope it's enough to get some attention.

I agree I be happy with anthing but (knowing **** all about the specifics!!) I would guess the live rights to American fights would be unattractive because of the time difference (only us idiots would stay up) and delayed showing can't justify a decent slot because its not live so they would end up on BBC2 late on a Sunday again with only the hardcore fans watching.

I just think to get decent fights, for a price the Beeb would be willing to pay and for them to warrant a decent time slot (ie. to promote boxing to the casual fans) it needs to be a domestic deal.
