If only it was that straightforward. Born in England, emigrated to NewZealand with his family as a child. Boxed as an amateur in NZ. Moved to Australia and turned pro and then had already taken out American citizenship when he won the Heavyweight crown.

Maybe we should just settle for the first British-born world heavyweight champion?

The first three slots are fairly clear cut in my opinion:

    1. Lennox Lewis
    2. Bob Fitzsimmons
    3. Tyson Fury

born in england then hes can claim to be english by definition. Though seeing as hes Cornish he might well prefer Briton.

Fury's status as Britain’s third lineal heavyweight champion makes it hard not to put him at three, even if the rest of his resume is lacklustre.

I had Tommy Farr pretty solidly wedged at #3, before the new British generation crashed the party.

I would have Fitz number one, but if LL has top spot, then for me it is Fitz at 2, and Fury merely by the lineal title 3rd.

you are where you are born, meathead, dont pretend its not the case. You cannot change where that occurred, no matter how many citizenships you take up for employment/marraige/convenience to make life easier.
anything else is just extra layers.

I commend on your choice of not going with a H2H standard which becomes nonsensical.
I go with whice country is generally associated with the fighter.

    Fitz gets my vote,
