I for one has forgotten about bunny , Booze how many top scalps did fitz have at middle not second guessing you just not sure myself
I got it from John himself. He had a load of his home movies and some fights put on dvd and he asked me to make some copies for him.
Virtually none at Middleweight; much like Terry Downes, he can claim the generally recognized World Middleweight Championship. In his case, with a victory over Jack Dempsey. By far his best victory. He did 'defend' the title in overweight contests.
Eubank clearly won that first Watson fight. Michael didn't even get a look-in until the 6th, then did pretty much nothing for the rest of the fight. Eubank looked better than McCallum had in the first four or five rounds, landing far more head shots and taking far less right hands.
Thanks Booze I was thinking of including fitz but wasn't sure as like I think someone has already posted I was too am unsure as how far back is to far back
I'm not denying Eubank was in his prime Einstein! I'm saying Benn wasn't properly prepared, hadn't taken EUBANK seriously at all. Didn't Benn spend 24 hours getting a silly fancy hairdo for the fight. 24 hours getting a hairdo! The vital 24 hours before the fight too! So bollox to you!
Crikey you're right.... Anyway either way EUBANK was very lucky at times in his career and is probably overrated as a result. For example Macklins performances against Sturm and peak Sergio were probably as impressive as anything we ever saw from EUBANK and nobody rates Macklin at all..... EUBANK got a lot of dodgy decisions IMO.
Yeah Macklin was so much more impressive than Eubank's spectacular wins over Benn, Watson, and Rocchi in Germany, or the 17-punch combination against Wharton thrown in four seconds, or defending the title every six weeks, etc!
Gee sorry....I'd forgotten that Wharton is sooo much better than Sergio, and of course Rocchi beats sturm all ends up....atsch
Different leagues. Rocchi beat Michalczewski and Hamsho all ends up and outboxed Nunn and Maske. Really no comparison.
I hate to agree with the ridiculously OTT Eubank ass kisser bulldog24 or attberry or whatever he calls himself but Eubank was much better then Macklin, Eubank would beat Sturm easily and as long as he's on one of his better nights he beats Martinez as well IMO. Macklin on the other hand would get destroyed by The Benn Eubank beat and get outclassed by Watson.
I could see Benn beating Macklin in under a minute. And Watson giving him three rounds of perfectly timed stiff overarm rights.
Good list. I've got the top 4 in the same order. I'd have Harvey at number 5 ahead of Downes, but after that it becomes very subjective and you can throw a blanket over half a dozen or so.
