Ok this thread might be a hit, or it might bomb. Basically I 'love' finding out amateur boxing craziness or interesting results for example Micheal Hunter stopped Nicky Cook in the amateurs. Amir Khan was 3-3 in his first six and would go on to beat Craig Watson, Gary Buckland, Bradley Saunders, Victor Ortiz and Steve Williams amongst others.... Anyone else got any good stories suprising results?
slightly left of topic jeff...are there many pro - amatuer shows on in england these days?...the card at bernard dunne worked so well saturday night....the amatuers were a very welcome addition to the show.
I was under the impression they're still not allowed. I agree it would be a fantastic idea. Imagine the ABA semi finals on two sky cards with a main event and summary. These fighters need faces. faces sell tickets.
So did Carlos Navarro and Juan Carlos Ramirez :yikes This dude who beat Steve Robinson http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=8812&cat=boxer
See this is good. I didn't know that..... Muhammed Ali was KO'd twice Roy Jones Jnr was knocked out by an Irish man called John Reid at Dublin national stadium....
I hate amateur boxing - well....... what it has become really more than anything. On topic....... I believe Juergen Braehmer holds two stoppage wins over a certain Ricky Hatton. Johnny Nelson went 3-10 in his amateur 'career' as he described it in his book.
