what the **** is this title?? what do u have to do to box for it Tommy coyle from hull won the british masters against mark mcCullough 6-7-0 and is now boxing for internatiol masters (vacent again suprise suprise) against polish boxer Arek Malek 11-40-2 think i might come out of retirement and (im 28 and havent boxed since i was 19) and have a crack at a vacant 'masters' title
It's just a minor title. I don't see what's too wrong with it, it's not like they're claiming to be world champions.
but whats the acheivement i winning 1 and why are they always vacant against hand picked no disrispect but no bodys its just a tag for publicity which i dont agree with fight ur way up win a area title which somebody already has won, then go for the english or british belt
Aww FFS its a belt that is used by Small Hall promotors, its no were near as prestigious as a british ,but no one said it was .
Its around so promoteres can put on their posters in big letters title fight, its a way of getting the crowds in.
its a short notice replacement tommy coyle was supposed to be fight Jon Baguley for the central area lightweight title :yep
I don't have a problem with this - it's not claiming any kind of 'world' status, and is in reality as said above a way of getting some more interest in small-hall shows. I saw Jamie Speight fight for the International Masters LWW title in Torquay last year, it wasn't a match up of great fighters but was a great little fight.
I don't see anything wrong with these titles per se. They can sometimes be the pinnacle of a journeyman's career and whilst they don't really carry any significance in terms of ranking (you'd have to place them below an Area title) if they help to promote smaller shows (I presume that there aren't really any sanctioning fees) then it can only help increase the earning potential of guys fighting in the small halls.
