Calzaghe vs Lacy - it was the talk of the playground, "Look at the size of 'is ****in' arms" one of my classmates exclaimed about Lacy "He is gonna knock Calzaghe out easy!". "I hope your right, Calzaghe is a *****" I say in response.

Time of the fight, I remember seeing the Calzaghe vs Mitchell fight and him being floored and thought he had no chance against the monster that everyone portrayed Lacy as. Then Calzaghe proceeded to put on one of the best boxing exhibitions I have ever seen live and completely made me change my opinion of him.

Eubank v Close, remembering sitting in my aunties house all the family round the tv cheering on poor aul ray close with a busted eye chasing a boring eubank around the ring, i must have been 6 or something but still remember it well.

calzaghe v lacy is one that springs to mind quite simply because of how good joe was that night.

maan, people forget how big the sport was just a few years ago, shows the importance of terestrial TV coverage i guess. Anybody remember "an audience with Lennox Lewis" after LL was jobbed against Holyfield ITV dedicated a whole show to him and the robbery. Also i still remember the aforementioned Real Deal winning the "overseas sports personity of the year" in around 96 when he beat Iron Mike but having to share it with some runner because it was an Olympic year and looking disgusted.

Only one other man has ever achieved three ABA titles at three different weights (Henry Carpenter) so it was something special from Calzaghe, who stopped Glenn Catley in one of his finals.

cheers Paddy,I've been lurking around mostly reading rather than posting, been busy as **** at work and moved into a new house so the time hasn't been there.but i'm glad to be back and seeing the british/irish forum fluorishing.
Bring on macklin and dunne for a cracking weekend of boxing, who you got picked?
i'm edging towards macklin with a points win and dunne on a big stoppage, making poontang quit on the stool by the 10th.

you heading down tomorrow night paddy,I'd love to go but sadly people's interest in boxing has waned even in my own family.

bringing the aul boy and big bro up to the rogan fight so hopefully it'll be a good scrap!
