For the first time, the Board is allowing fans to vote – from a shortlist of five – for the British Boxer of the Year. You can do this via the Boxing News website, as they are helping the Board to stage the Awards lunch in November. I daren't post a link but it's easy to find. The shortlist consists of: David Haye, Carl Froch, Rendall Munroe, Nathan Cleverly and Amir Khan.

Who should win, who should be on the shortlist who isn't?

i think thats probably the right fighters on the list. maybe macklin for his victoriy over asikinan. my winner would have to be rendall munroe i think. good wins over very decent level apponanats and he's been the most active by far. he's not the most talented but he's certanly earned his money this year.

Haye - beat an aging Ruiz and ducked the Klitschkos, looks set to fight Audley - he's out

Froch - only one fight so far this year against Kessler, he lost so i guess he cant really win this

Munroe - Beat Terrazas in world title eliminator in a good performance, should have a good chance of winning if he can beat Nishioka

Cleverly - beat Brancallion for Euro title, again is in for a chance if he can beat Murat

Khan - has beaten malignaggi but was expected by most to do so

i guess its between Munroe and Cleverly so far, when is it announced as no one has really done enough to deserve it yet

The award is for the 'season' not the calendar year – September 09 to July 10
