How though, he could've knocked him out earlier, or Harrison could've survived the onslaught, it wasn't a foregone conclusion and still a risk, he was just confident in his abilities.

Anyway, he said he didn't place a bet himself, lets leave it at that eh...

I don't think Haye was planning on telling the world about his bet in his post fight interview. The punches from Audley obviously had his head all over the place and he just rabbited on.

makes you wonder why he bothered to carry him two rounds....why not bet on the first and do him in the first ?...if he's that confident, especially as he didnt look like he needed three rounds to 'soften' harrison up a bit for the third, cause he didnt touch him......if that makes sense

It’s obvious Haye put on money on himself (indirectly). He came out and admitted it post fight and is now lying to cover his ass. I feel sorry for any punters who bet round 1 or 2 where both guys done nothing. No wonder Groves was so happy after his fight after he confessed he had been given the word.

There were people on here pre-fight saying Haye will carry it for a few rounds so the fight doesn't look so much of a total rip off and farce.

Maybe that's the reason, it didn't work out that way though as Audly threw one jab in 3 rounds.

Ok, if he bet on him self to lose then theirs a problem but he did not sor their is no problem betting on your self to win, Floyd Mayther and others have done it and made it public that they would win.

People had the choice to bet the same round some did and some picked different rounds.

I don't think he can get in to trouble for this. He bet on knocking him out in the third but it was as if that was a forgone conclusion that it would happen, it's not like he knew for a fact that Harrison would be that easy to take out, it could have quite easily not happened in the third even if he had tried to do it then.

Shouldn't be allowed in my opinion. Fighters betting on themselves and not fighting the fight as they see it, as it plays out naturally, with their bet in mind...that goes against all the punters out there that have bet on the fight without that knowledge.

It's true more often than not you wouldn't be able to get it in the exact round required but the thing is what about all the people that bet on rounds 1 and 2 and its seen as him making no effort? I don't think that was the case, I think this is a PR stunt and he was naturally cautious, but hypothetically.

betting to win outright is one thing but loading up on a particular round and keeping it quiet so not to shorten the odds is another.

Absolutely. Haye robbed money out of the pockets of everyone who backed him in round one or two. If he'd have kept it quiet then so what, that's the gamble. But when he and everyone around him had been dropping hints for god knows how long that he knew the round it makes the whole thing stink. He didn't think this through.
