Does british boxing now need to rely on David AKA The Hayemaker Haye to be the cream of our boxers worldwide?

Ricky Hatton - On the tail end of his career and not many fights left in him.

Joe Calzaghe - Same again, end of his career.

Amir Khan - Proven to have a glass jaw surely not able to compete at world stage with that sort of punch resistance?

Nicky Cook - Doubt he will be able to conquer Super Featherweight.

Junior Witter - Now without a world title, lost to a good up and coming yank.

Jon Thaxton - European level at best.

Enzo Mac - Soundly put away by David Haye.

Bradley Pryce - IMO will be beat by world class opposition.

Gary Locket - Destroyed by Pavlik

Gav Rees - Lost his 140 title to nobody special, Possible Lightweight challenger?

    Graham Earl - Finished.

Audley, Williams, Francis, Skelton - All ****ing useless.

So are we left with one legitimate contender who hasnt really proved himself at Heavyweight yet besides a crushing win over the durable Bonin?

    Thoughts please...

Its a shame but we probably are.

And its an even bigger shame for me as im not a fan.

I think im going to have to search the tree to see if i have any Ukranian or Russian blood in me.

Its a dangerously scary state of affairs.

Nothing wrong with Haye. He's the best, most skilled British champion currently bar none!!!!

Outboxed by Nicky Cook Last night?

Nothing wrong with David Haye at all im just merely pointout that we are soley relying on HIM and him alone to keep the british scene on the world stage at this moment in time!

The cupboard is pretty bare to say the least

Once Calzaghe is gone, only Haye and Froch will be world class. Hatton barely, but he'll be done soon too.

There are a few prospects around, but nobody that stands out immensely as potential world class. All eyes must be on the amateurs, DeGale, Gavin and BJ Saunders.

Graham Earl was/is another typical SN fighter. He got given a gift vs Bobby Vanzie and did the same in there rematch. He was good enough for the domestic scene beating up the Murrays and Bennetts of this world but he was never going to be world class. He did surprise me with the cojones he showed vs Katsidis but he was way in over his head. Katsidis tore his head off in a very entertaining scrap. Since the Khan fight when he was wiped out ina round i dont think his fought since.

He'll be made to look like an amateur once he faces someone with skill, why has Hennessey took over 6 years to get him WBC mandatry?

I forgot about Carl Froch to be honest.. that says it all dont you think?

He is a decent fighter and just might win a world title in the SM division at the moment. I honestly wouldnt pick him to beat Mikkel Kessler though so again he is a fighter in my opinion much on the fringes.

I think Junior Witter has potential to comeback from the Bradley loss and win another title though - i want to see him throw a three fight streak together in quick succession and get another world title shot in the third fight.

Seems you mainly listed current or former Warren fighters.

What about John Murray, Jamie Moore, Carl Froch(as mentioned above), Paul Appleby, Kenny Anderson(looks a great prospect), Colin Lynes, David Barnes, Ajose Olusegun(now British citizen), Ian Napa, Rendall Munroe, Rhodes.........

Okay you get the picture, all of them bar Froch and possibly Appleby and Anderson depending on what they turn out to be won't reach World title level. But most of them are better than Earl, Lockett, those heavyweights and so on.

Haye will probably be British boxings main man, followed by Froch and then Maccarinelli, a couple more will pick up World titles such as Cook has be never be the man in their division.
