British Boxing: Venues You'd Like To See Used More

    As title says fella's, We got many great arena's in this country. Many of the big fights rotate from M.E.N to O2 or Excel or Wembley. Small Hall shows say in London rotate between York Hall to Newham/Brentwood/Dagenham and now and then at Elephant & Castle. Some Sunday shows at Tooting Leisure Centre not far from myself. Mostly dominated by East London really.

    What venue's would you like to see host more professional fights from small hall shows to Big Shows by headline promoters.

    Actually i'll throw in area's as well, i'm sure some of you out there have to travel a fair bit to see even a small hall show.

    ive always thought birmingham would be useful to stage big fights between say a fighter from manchester and a fighter from say london, more central, i thought liverpool was a slightly strange choice for mitchell murray, if both fighters are capable of bringing a lot of support why not have it more equidistant

    It was going to be at the ExCel but it got postponed and got put onto the Liverpool bill a week later.

    Manchester Central, formerly known as the GMEX...i dont think thats been used for boxing in a while but had some decent fights there in the 90s

    Remember the Gmex, that's strange it hasn't hosted many fights since then. I thought it was good arena.

    :lol: If Sam Webb won his fight with Arron he was going to keep defending down your way as he's from that part of the world. It gets bit neglected for boxing.

    Royal Albert Hall.

    I would LOVE to watch a fight there, unfortunately the last time it was used frequently was before my time really. Heard that the ban against them hosting Boxing Shows has now been lifted so hopefully it'll go back there.

    Manchester Central (GMEX)would be good but its used primarily for concerts now and I think it's permanantly 'rigged' with an 'End Stage'

    Paisley lagoon has been used more recently but its a great wee arena for boxing and SRR fought there in a losing effort at the tailend of his career. Would like to see more than 1 or 2 cards a year there.
