The fact is he had a positive test result. Cheating is cheating whether you're aware of it or not. That said, I think most fighters in the last 20 years have done one form of steroid or another. The only thing that gets me about this thread are some of the same people admonishing Jones claim Vits Klitschko as a clean sportsman because he's never been caught as a pro. Sorry but it doesn't matter who it is or when it was, once you've used your ENTIRE career is open to speculation. Jmo.

And yes, any version of Jones before Ruiz makes Zags go to sleep.

Doesn't matter, It was still a banned substance, he was busted, he cheated. I can turn it around too and say that all anabolic steroids don't increase speed and strengh.. Some are used for *** drive. And since we don't know what steroid Roy was taking, he is just as innocent as Vitali, who admittedly abused steroids. My point being, is you are very harsh on Roy, while you let other fighters slide because they took Rico approved banned substances.:yep

Oh, Is coming to America to beat up on the shell of Roy Jones the "big" fights you are giving him credit for traveling to? Roy had plenty more big fights than that, where he didn't have to travel too far, he was already on the world stage.. Toney, Griffin 2, Tarver, Ruiz.. ect..

Though I do admit, there where times where I felt Roy defintely got lazy with his sweet deal on HBO.. He pretty much got paid 5 million a fight to stay in America and fight on HBO against mandos.. There were times where I think he didn't train hard, and wasn't as hungry as he was when he moved up to fight Toney.

just as long as you were turning it around on Rico and it's not something you stand by.

PHEW! i really did think you'd turned "Klitschko" for a minute there.

Vitali did take it in the Amateurs, yes. but not in his Pro career. i guess it all comes down to how you look at it really. we separate the Pro's and Ams when it comes to fighting, so some may look at it that way when it comes to the drugs he took.

myself? i put a black mark on his entire Amateur career. his Pro career however, i'm willing to view separately and give him the pass.

i know some would disagree with that, and they have a point if they wish to see it differently, but that's my take on it.

joe said he wasn't chasing roy jones and wanted easy (eg.national level) fights, so he ought not to be in there, since roy was fighting for real world titles.

Vitali had people watching his every move when he turned over, so i don't think he was so stupid as to take anything.

and anyway, why was he on the stuff?? did he know what he was doing?? was it pure ignorance from his side??

if someone can give me as much on the situation as they can find, maybe i'll change my mind if things don't add up.

my knowledge of what happened there isn't exactly great. so if any poster has something, chuck it my way.

its true, he was boring fighting nationals and subnationals for a supposed world title, compared to some of Jones global exploits which garnered global attention. but I didn't want to say it, I prefer to remain impartial with the facts.

So much made about a comment in 99, where Calzaghe said he wanted fights to make money, but what is left out by the haters is that it follows on to say that Calzaghe would be willing to face Jones as he was in 00, 01 and 02, though many like to forget that.
Funny thing is the double standards how Ward is not wanting to go up to LHW to face Stevenson and Kovalev, as he is a SMW, but Calzaghe says he is willing to face Jones and his team entered into talks with Jones and the haters get so insecure and try and pretend that didnt happen

What own admission. Read the full artice where he said he wants to make money, but it also follows to say that he wouldnt avoid a fight with Jones if it were to appear and why do you ignore Calzaghes team tried to make the fight?

Are you aware that Calzaghes team tried to get a competition with Hopkins against Calzaghe and Jones against H Simon with the final to be against the winners in America and Calzaghe was ok for the tournament. Are you aware of this?

Sure is a lot of butthurt Roy Jones fans that can't seem to deal with Joe's easy victory over him. This proved to be one of the turning fights of the era, of the sport in fact. With Joe destroying the big 3 American's, Roy Jones, Lacey and B-Hop this would prove to be a turning point. Joe had dragged the sport back to Europe with Americans kicking and screaming. No longer would World boxing tolerate self proclaimed American 'ATG's' feasting on hype job built up American bums fighting in the so called mecca of boxing. No longer would we see apparent prime ATG feasting on the likes of Bryant Brannon and Iran Barkley. Those days thank God, are gone.

Right and RJJ didn't have people watching him after the Hall fight. He was rigorously tested in his next couple of fights but I know I know Vitali is a saint and Jones is the devil it's clear now how much of a hypocrite your are !

This thread is a pitiful mish mash of Rojos, berks, and boz-eyed tranny queens. A shot, bloated, brittle-boned Calzaghe thrashed Jones easily. It's irrefutable.
