Ok.... just been reading Khan and Bradley's twatter war.... during which Amir accused Bradley of avoiding Salita. Given that Salita looked like a complete can, how does he fare against the following..... Frankie Gavin Willie Limond Nigel Wright Lenny Daws Gavin Rees Curtis Woodhouse John Murray Karl Place Kevin Mitchell Ashley Theophane and others...... Does he beat any of them, or would hearing the final bell be an achievement for him? :bbb
People should note Salita is a GOOD fighter, but nothing more. He got clocked fast and didn't see the punches, being why he got blasted out. Khan is a great finisher to top it off. I haven't seen enough of Salita to judge it to be honest though. Only a short clip.
Tbh i havent seen enough of him to judge either and its not like Khan lacyed him, just caught him with a couple of good shots. That being said his record is pityful to say the least how he ever got a world title shot is a mystery, I would hope that Mitchell, Rees and maybe murray could beat him. Gavin if he lives up to his potential, as for the rest its hard to tell.
Salita is obviously pretty soft because Khan is not a huge puncher like that. To get taken out like Khan was a murderous puncher doesn't speak well for his punch resistance. As fighters with decent chins have shown Khan is more fast hands than big punches. I think most of them would fair well. There is a chance somebody like Rees and Woodhouse could get outboxed not being big punchers or skilled but I wouldn't make anybody a long shot based on what Salita has shown.
I've seen 4 or 5 of Salita's fights and never been impressed at all. He was lucky to get the decision over Derrick Campos who was tiny in comparison to him. He may be in the top 25 in the world but that's about it.
Salita struggled with journeymen prior to his defeat. The Khan fight wasn't a fluke stoppage. The lad had been dropped before and started to struggle to beat relative obscure opponents. He had a few life and death experiences and has shown that his story is better then his skills. I like the lad and wish him well in future but i'd take a few names in that list to beat him. i'd have Ashley Theopane to beat him actually. I think that would be a great fight for Ashley.
I never said it was a complete and in order top 10 - you need a chill pill Rob! I'd confidently put a months wage on all of them to win...... he ran away from Limond remember He might be the worst ever world title challenger on these shores.
Salita is shocking. I think Daws would beat him, let alone some of the more highly touted prospects. I would've probably said that before the Khan fight, he'd looked abysmal against soft opposition and a non-puncher to boot. Khan is no puncher (not far off feather fisted) and he decimated Salita. Fast and eye catching as Khan is, he's no offensive wiz. Some people allow them to get caught up with his speed IMO, which masks how average his offensive variety is.
