People complained about how biased Cortez was and about the fact whenever close (sometimes fighting inside) Cortez would break them. I don't recall any claiming to be unhappy Cortez didn't let Hatton clinch.

Yeah, I agree. Hatton didn't really have much of a defence and he did spoil things at times.

LOL so hatton lunging in with his head low grabbing at floyds arms is an inside fight?

    Cortez was bias?

I remember british fans complaining that hatton got a point deducted.... After he shove mayweathers head through the ropes and tried to rabbit punch him

So let me ask you, was the Tszyu Hatton fight an entertaining fair boxing match? With lots of "inside work"?

Ricky Hatton was a filthy fighter that held and hit constantly. It doesn't get any simpler than that.

Hated Hattons ugly mauling style and I hate Wlads excessive grabbing and leaning.

Wow, you REALLY don't get boxing do you. Follow me . . .

Hatton fought up close, it was his job to get up close and do his work. His weakness was fighting at range where his leaky defence and poor head movement meant he was vulnerable to jabs and fast straight shots.

How would clinching on the inside improve his 'leaky' defence on the outside?

Considering his game was built around getting inside, why would he clinch when he was there?

You really seem to be confusing Hatton's mauling/wrestling, which he used to position opponents to get his shots off (with debated legality) with Wlad's clinching, which is used to stop his opponent from punching and to force the ref to split them, so he can re-establish his distance.

    That's pretty embarrassing for you.

Reading comprehension isn't your strong point is it?

You claimed British fans said clinching was a part of Hattons game that they agreed with. I'm asking you to provide some posts to back this.

Cortez was bias, that was obvious, more so than the Khan - Maidana fight where he gave Khan plenty of breaks.

I remember British fans complaining about Cortezs protection of Mayweather.

Hatton - Tszyu had plenty of clinching but also plenty of inside fighting from both, Wlad just clinches, little or no inside fighting, very different and non comparable.

Hatton style was freaking boring to say the least. I remember Castillo say before his fight with Hatton that he hopes Hatton fights like a man and not holding. Hatton vs Kostya was suppost to be a great fight but instead it became a clinch fest that was boring. For those that is defending Hatton clinching style are knuckle heads. This is why i said this before i respect Froch more then any other uk fighters.

    Bull****

Spin it however you want, Hatton held plenty. He would get caught with a punch coming in, Then he would hold on for dear life. He would be getting outworked at close range, he would hold on. He would especially hold if the fighter was faster than him...

Hattons style was to outmaul, wrestle, and wear down an opponent because his skill could not cut it at world class.

LOL I find that people who say "you don't know about boxing" are usually the ones that know a few things, but tend to overrate what they actually know...

Im sure ricky putting opponents in head locks was to position them for a punch :lol:

To be honest i'm just being an arse because I'm stressing as I'm having trouble booking Wlad vs Haye.

I didn't particularly enjoy Hatton's mauling, grappling style - but he did give British fight fans some huge nights.

However, you're still wrong with your assertion that fans complained that Hatton wasn't allowed to clinch vs Floyd I remember some people moaning that Hatton wasn't allowed to fight inside, that was it.

Yeah he used to clinch, but saying he didn't fight like a man is ridiculous. he would happily take on any boxer more superior face first. and brawl to the death. sweet science? no. but fight like a man? Undoubtedly!!!!

Good ole' Glass Jawed Ricky "Hit and Hold" Hatton.:rofl:patsch

I remember when the Brits also claimed on here he was fighting for the Pound 4 Pound "title" :rofl:patsch

Hatton had a padded record with a lot of hometown fights with hometown referees and judges.
